Goddesses in Everywoman

I have always had a fondness for goddesses of all cultures, be it the Indian goddesses Laxmi, Durga and Saraswati, Egyptian goddess Isis or the entire pantheon of Greek goddesses. I also recently have read Jean Shinoda Bolen's book Goddesses in Everywoman which is a part of archetypal psychology which says that every woman is made up of seven Goddess archetypes. She could either be a Virgin goddess (Athena, Artemis or Hestia) or a Vulnerable goddess (Persephone, Demeter or Hera) or an Alchemical goddess (Aphrodite). We all have a goddess within us and we need to express her in the right way. If we are naturally a homemaker we need not fight that thinking it is a stereotype. If we naturally love outdoors, we shouldn't confine ourselves to the walls of our homes. We must find our true nature and love ourselves for who we truly are.The spirit, power and the beauty of the goddesses exists within every woman, man and child. They bring about a feminine balancing energy to the world. Everyone has a feminine side, represented by the Empress and the High Priestess in the Tarot. Female stands for yin, intuition, creativity, loving and nurturing energy.

I  possess the wonderful Goddess Tarot deck by Kris Waldherr which is filled with feminine energy. All the majors represent 22 goddesses in all and 4 more goddesses represent the minor suits - Venus (Cups), Frejya (Wands), Isis (Swords) and Laxmi (Pentacles). Waldherr too uses goddesses of different cultures in her deck. While she uses popular goddesses like Venus, Athena and Isis, she also uses oriental goddesses like Tara, Chang O, Kwan Yin and Ukemochi. I love learning about different cultures through Tarot. These cards become a source of empowerment for women of all cultures all over the world. This is a reclamation of the Divine Feminine.

This week, I will be using the Goddess Guidance Oracle cards by Doreen Virtue for my daily Card of the Day readings. These cards are lovely and I feel connected to them very personally. There are 44 goddesses in these cards belonging to many different cultures: Egyptian, Mayan, Celtic, African and Indian. These goddesses are always there with us to protect us all. We must call upon them , just like the angels when we need them. They will definitely hear our prayers.  I hope you will like them too.
