Card of the Day - August 31, 2011

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy tale tarot is the 4 of Cups depicted by the Brazilian story called "Why the Sea Moans". The story goes like this:
Once there was a princess who lived in a castle by the sea. One day she heard the waves whisper her name "Dionysia". She looked and saw a serpent rising from the surface. He hissed, "I am Labismena. Lets be friends and play by the sea." They played together for many years and when the princess turned sixteen, the serpent bade her good bye and left. He said "If you ever need me, return to this spot and call my name".

The wife of a king was on her deathbed and she told the king to marry the woman whose finger fitted the ring perfectly. He searched far and wide and finally the ring fitted Dionysia. She did not want to marry the old king so she rushed to her favorite spot on the beach and called out to her friend Labismena. After hearing her story, he told her,"Tell your father that you will only marry the king if he presents you with a dress that has all the colours of all the flowers in the field." With this request, the king was annoyed but he found the dress. Then she returned to the beach again. Labismena said," Tell your father that you will only marry the king if he presents you a dress with the colour of all the fishes in the sea." The king was growing angry but he acquired the dress. The princess was upset, she said,' It is useless! I will surely end up an old man's bride." He said," Tell your father to tell the king to present you with a dress the colour of the sky and the stars." The king was outraged but after much expense and effort he fulfilled her request. She ran back to the beach and begged her friend to help her one last time. He told her to bring her three dresses and climb into a boat. "Is there any way I can thank you?" "Yes there is. When you are at the peak of your happiness, go to the shore and call out my name three times. I am really a princess turned into a sea serpent. But your joy has the power to break the curse." She went on the boat and reached an island. There was a festival in town and she dazzled everyone when she wore her flower dress. The prince was mesmerized. On the second day, she wore the dress of fishes and the third day the dress of stars. Before the evening, the prince declared his love for her and gave her a jewel and asked her to marry him. But she vanished.

The prince became heartsick. One day he found the jewel in the food he was eating. He asked who prepared the meal and recognized the cook as the mysterious lady. They married, but in their joy they forgot about the serpent princess. The sea serpent resigned to her fate, retreated into loneliness of the dark water. Her sad moans spread across the waves and could be heard by anyone who listened carefully to the subtle sounds of the sea.

The snake princess is lonely.  We might feel that way today. We can sometimes get caught up in situations and fail to see the solution. We might be so upset with our troubles that we do not see that the other person is much more troubled than us. Sometimes we need to take a step back and revisit a problem. There are some people who only give, and some who only receive. We should maintain a balance between both. We must learn to GIVE and RECEIVE. Both are equally important.

Card of the Day - August 30, 2011

Sometimes the card of the day REALLY fits the day. I can say that about today's card about a hard working day. Not only am I tired cleaning my room today, when I typed the entire post for today, I pressed the cross button by mistake! Here I am typing the whole thing again. :-S

Today's card is the 10 of Wands symbolized by the story of Rumplestiltskin. The 10 of Wands is a card of burden and overwork. Today's story is about a mysterious man with a mysterious name. The card shows a poor miller's daughter stressed out and burdened because she has to spin straw into gold and doesn't know how. Today you will feel like this. Overwhelmed, burdened, stressed and exhausted. When I was a child, I used to love these cartoons on TV called Timeless Tales. They had an episode on this story which I found on Youtube. I will be putting down the links for you to enjoy. :-) The entire story is there in three parts.

Card of the Day - August 29, 2011

Today's card of the day from the Fairy tale tarot is from a beautiful story, one of my favorites - the ultimate story of the underdog, The Ugly Duckling. Since I was a child, I loved this story specially because it is so real. We all feel that we are ignored, bullied or treated differently just because we are not 'like everybody else'. Being different makes you special, makes you one of a kind. This realization enlightens us and helps us to follow our heart. This card traditionally called Judgement, the Number 20 card of the Tarot, is here called Redemption symbolizing transformation and liberation.

The story begins with a mother duck hatching her eggs. From the beginning, one egg itself looked different, paler than the rest. When the eggs hatched, instead of a yellow chick, a grayish creature came out. Other fowl laughed saying "That is the ugliest duck I have ever laid my eyes on." He was the oddball among his siblings and one day decided to run away. Months passed, the weather became cold. A kind man seeing the numb ducking picked it up a took care of it. His children were excited to have a new pet. But the frightened bird panicked and escaped into the brutal cold. Then summer came, the duckling felt the urge to spread its wings. His tiny wings had now grown! Then he felt his wings flap him away from the ground and carry him to the top of the trees. He landed in a pond occupied by the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. The royal birds looked at the newest arrival and swam up to him. The ugly duckling bowed his head and saw his own reflection - He was a beautiful swan! He was home at last. The children by the banks pointed out at him and said, "That is the most beautiful swan in the pond!"

This card means that we have survived the trials and tribulations along our journey. We are now liberated from the many tethers that held us back from becoming fully aware, integrated and whole. Our spirits are ready to experience higher consciousness, wisdom and greater awareness. What makes us truly beautiful is our inward journey. People only see our outward appearances and judge us for that, only we know about the inner struggles and the inward growth we have achieved on our life.

Anna Hazare and the Protest against Corruption

Anna Hazare is a social activist who recently has come into the news for fasting for 12 days at the Ramlila maidan for corruption. Are his intentions clear? What does he want? Will corruption ever end? Or will the Lokpal bill get passed? All these questions have their answers in the Tarot cards....

All opinions in this blog are what the Tarot has said and what I have received intuitively. They are NOT my own opinions.

I have asked the following questions using the Legacy of the Divine tarot cards :-

What are Anna Hazare's intentions?

Anna Hazare is determined to get the bill passed. He is disciplined and has organized this whole protest single handedly. He is a true leader who can lead the people. He wants to bring about awakening and make people realize the truth. He wants justice for the poor and the middle class. Because of him, there will be the awakening of a new youth in the country. Youngsters will be deeply affected by this movement and many will join politics forming new parties. People will rise from their slumbers and try and make a difference. He intends to speed up the judiciary system so that everyone can receive justice.

Will the Congress party disappoint us?

The Congress party is extremely corrupt. They have done a number of scams in the past and passed on money to different places. (I assume in the accounts of different officials all over the world) They have a lot of money but refuse to share it for the betterment of the country. All the power is in their hands. The future shows a bit of hope that the amount of corruption will reduce. There will be a leader who will offer to give some details of the corrupt officials. Anna Hazare is the peacemaker represented by the Knight of Cups. He is a loving man, a Number 6 born of the 15th of June. His name number also adds up to 33 i.e. 6. He loves peace and non violence. He will guide us towards a better future, exposing these corrupt people.

Will the Lokpal bill get passed?

Everything is in the hands of the Queen of Coins, I assume Sonia Gandhi. She is all-powerful and all the money is under her control. For a very long time there will be no change in the bill. The bill will not get passed because there are so many things at stake for Sonia Gandhi. We also have the 7 of Swords, a very cunning and sly card. The people in charge of this are very shrewd and will not let go this easily. Anna is like a Christ figure, he will create a protest, but the results look bleek. I know this is a pessimistic reading, but it doesn't look like the Lokpal bill will get passed. Even if it seems to get passed, it will have a number of loop holes which will make it useless.

Card of the Day - August 27, 2011

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy Tale Tarot is The Hermit depicted by the Czechoslovakian story of The Wood Fairy. The story is about a poor but spirited girl named Betushka who lived with her mother and two sheep. She would spin flax under the tree while they grazed.  One day when she was going to graze the sheep, a beautiful lady appeared and asked her, ''Will you dance with me?'' Betushka danced with her till the wee hours of the morning forgetting about her sheep and her spinning. She was worried about what her mother would say. The next day, the same thing happened. But, this time the magical lady spun the flax for her in seconds. The next day, while they were dancing, the lady told her  that there was a surprise for her in the basket. When she went home, she told her mother about the incident. Her mother told her that she had been visited by a wood fairy. "They bless hard-working girls with gifts," she said. She looked into her basket and there was a pile of coins, enough to buy a big farm and house.

You have the combination of hard work and supernatural forces at work. Hard work is always blessed by the divine. From time to time, we need to retreat to a place where we can reflect on our journeys. In order to grow, we sometimes need to pause and view ourselves with more objectivity. We need to remind ourselves that we need not be so strict on ourselves.

Card of the Day - August 26, 2011

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy Tale Tarot is the 6 of Wands depicted by the story of The Prince and the Dragon. This is a magical story of a prince's victory over a dragon ending with him getting the princess.  Dragons are creatures that test the will of a mortal. Victory is at hand. A balance of determination and calm resolve results in triumphant success. A period of harmonies will follow as you fully realize the far reaching effects of your achievements. Today is a day of triumphs. Congratulate yourself for a successfully completing a mission and achieving a personal victory.

Card of the Day - August 25, 2011

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy tale Tarot is the 6 of Pentacles depicted by the Maori story of Kahukura and the Fairy Fisherman. Its the story of a young man named Kahukura who had a vision about a place and wanted to see it in his waking life. He was very curious about fairies and had heard many stories about them. One night, he saw fairies near the sea, pulling fish in their net. Seeing them, he joined them, mimicking their methods and hiding his true identity of being human. Dawn approached, and his true identity was revealed. They were shocked and dropped their fish and nets. Kahukura picked up the net, marveling at the ingenious weave that made catching so many fishes possible. Using this as a prototype, he made more of them, and used the gift of the fairies to benefit his people.

This card shows the moon, which has mysterious powers. It is a sign of good things to come. We never know, when we might receive unexpected help. Inner peace and prosperity is coming into your life. You will receive help from an unexpected source. We must learn to receive, if we only have been giving. There must be a balance between the two. You will succeed in whatever tasks you do and will become generous, spreading your positive energy to others.

Card of the Day - August 24, 2011

The Card of the Day today is the Three of Swords from the Fairy Tale Tarot depicted by the fairy tale of The Little Match Girl. This is a sad tale of a poor little girl who sells matches to the crowds flurrying about during New Year's Eve. It is very cold, and the girl is shivering till she had blue hands and purple lips. At the end of the day, she hadn't sold any matches and was too scared to go home to her father who would scold her. She was numb with the cold, and thought of lighting up a match to feel some warmth. When she lit the match, she saw inside the flame, a burning stove. She stretched out toward the flame of the stove, then the flame burnt out. She struck another match. This time she saw a beautiful table with food on it. She could smell the aroma and saw a Christmas tree made of stars. Then the flame went out. Feeling very cold, she lit all the matches, and saw a vision of her grandmother, peaceful and loving. She reached out to her, and felt warmth in her arms and went to sleep. On the morning of the new year, a crowd gathered around a small frozen body when someone said, ''Oh, the miserable thing, left all alone in the cold of the night. But, she is still smiling, whatever she saw before she died must have been wonderful.''

The girl escapes from the brutal reality of her conscious life into the ethereal warmth of her unconscious desires. The glowing match provides warmth and light enabling her to travel into other realms. This card is one of great sorrow and misery. Be prepared to deal with tough situations in your life, as they make you stronger. Be aware of the first signs of trouble, and solve the problem before it is too late. Try and look at the positive side of things when things look rock bottom. We should use the power of wishful thinking to ease our sufferings.

The Shaman Gateways 1, 2 and 3

Today, I have reached Shaman Gateway Number 4 and have to be here for two days, till I open the final and the fifth Gateway. My progress so far...

Gate no.1

Here we first needed to ask three questions :

What is the Guardian
How do I Fight?
What is my Reward?

I got the following cards from the Robin Wood deck:
King of Wands
4 of Swords
2 of Swords

I feel that this is what it means - I am afraid of action, application, communication, public speaking and being ridiculed for speaking out the truth. To fight, I need to meditate, and make myself stronger from within. Self reflection is very important. I have been procrastinating doing Reiki on myself since a very long time. I think I need attention on my heart chakra, which looks like how the 4 of Swords card is positioned. Also, it looks like she is sleeping/dreaming. I should concentrate more on my dreams. The reward is the 2 of Swords. I think this means, an increased intuition, the ability to see even though I'm blindfolded. Have an inner vision and insight which no one has. Also, she seems stuck, but is in her own world an unaware. To the world, she seems still, but is going through a transformation within which is not visible physically.

Gate no.2
I found out that my Journey card is the 6 of Swords from the Legacy of the Divine tarot deck so I need to travel a lot emotionally, and I am currently on with my journey, so I'm on the right path. I had a thought that maybe my animal spirit guide is some sort of a water creature, like a fish or a duck. But that was just a passing thought. I felt that my journey, is one where I need to be alone, like the lady in the ship in the card.  I need to be curious and not afraid. I need to be patient and calm so I can reach my destination.

Gate no.3
On the third gate, we needed to find out who our Animal spirit guide is! For that we need to choose a deck of cards. I chose the 'Messages from my Animal Spirit Guides' oracle deck and did the exercise mentioned. I kept a rose quartz crystal on the chosen card and kept it closed for the entire day, thinking about what it could be and noticing signs I received. It was very odd, I feel. I got sooo many signs that it could be a pigeon or a dove of some sort. While doing the exercise, two pigeons came on my window sill. I have rarely seen pigeons near my house, usually there are crows. Also, I started reading a new book and in it was a free bookmark from the online book store. On the book mark was a quote ''Pigeons look very comfortable on the branch above your head''. Haha. Also, in the night, I was just surfing the TV, and happened to see an episode of Cougar Town about pigeons, doves and squirrels. Hmmm.. So convinced was I that it was a pigeon, that when I opened the card, I was upset that it wasn't. It was a Platypus. A who? I have hardly ever heard of it nor have I seen it. (I don't even think they're found here in India). On googling, I found out more about this sweet little animal (who is a water creature as I intuited earlier during Gate 2), that its qualities resembled me a lot! Here is some stuff I found out about the platypus as an animal spirit guide:

Some keywords which represent the platypus are grounded, clairsentience, inquisitiveness, uniqueness, adaptability, flexibility, shyness, grooming, stability, inner sight, sense of humour. It's so amazing.. I feel that most of these words describe me or what I feel I should be or what is my true Self. Also the message says Stop complaining and focus on your blessings!

I copied this description from a website:

This is the card I drew from the Messages
from Your Animal Spirit Guides deck
PLATYPUS
The platypus represents female energy. Its elements, water and Earth, are also those of woman. Its balancing power enables the platypus to play and have fun with its offspring all day. The platypus would never start a fight, because it does not know aggression and imbalance. Therefore, it approaches everybody with curiosity and friendliness. It will only defend itself if attacked first. Its physical shape also corresponds to the Native American image of femininity. It is slender and full of grace. The Platypus teaches that being a woman is about joy and openness not envy or jealousy. It is the power of sharing kindness. People with the energy of the platypus practice free love without control and power games. They are the true practitioners of unconditional love. They flow with the stream of life without the need material goods. This is the powerful, receiving-energy of women.

Now, I'm about to embark on the fourth gate to create a magic symbol to summon my Animal spirit guide... Lets see what the future holds!

Card of the Day - August 23, 2011

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy Tale Tarot is the Ace of Cups depicted in this deck by the Indian fairy tale The Snake Prince. The tale is a love story between a princess and a prince who is cursed to be a snake. Her love and devotion to him, and her courage and strength transform him back into a handsome prince, breaking the enchantment. And they lived happily ever after!

This card is one of romance and true love. Love is truly vulnerable and full of emotional desire. In its early stages, love can be intoxicating and full of ideas. It can provide opportunities and increases creativity. It helps us to act on our desires and be spontaneous. This card means that we need to realize what love is and act upon it. Or we need to be spontaneous and emotional in dealing with situations and be like a fool in love.

Card of the Day - August 22, 2011

7 of Swords
The Fairy Tale Tarot by Lisa Hunt

Today's card is again from The Fairy Tale Tarot and I plan to use this deck for this purpose for quite a while now. I would love to share with you the wonderful images and stories it portrays.

The 7 of Swords is depicted in this deck by the fairy tale I'm sure most of you have heard of : The Three Billy Goats Gruff''. The story is about three goats called Billy Goats Gruff. They wanted to climb up a grassy knoll so they could fatten themselves up and eat the plants there. But they had to cross an old bridge where there lived a mean, ugly troll. The three goats trick the mean troll with their wit and smart ways. In the end, they successfully reach the other side and live there for the rest of their lives.

The goat stands for cunning and steadfastness. There are risks to be undertaken if we need success. This is not the time to let your guard down. You need to be alert and witty to get things done. You need to utilize your acute problem-solving skills as you encounter challenges. This card suggests that you need to stay one step ahead of competition. Try to be aware of deceitful behavior and adjust your strategy accordingly.

Card of the Day - August 21, 2011

Today, the COTD will be from my newest deck, The Fairy Tale Tarot and I will be posting cards from this deck for some days. The cards are extremely beautiful and the stories behind it are very apt. Every card depicts a fairy tale, so there are 78 beautiful fairy-tales depicted in wonderful artwork by Lisa Hunt.

The Card for today is the 10 of Cups which depicts the Spanish story of 'The Girl Fish'. A maiden gets cursed into becoming a fish because of her vanity, but she redeems herself by helping the merfolk win back their rightful crown and has a happy ending with a prince. This is a story of wealth, power, love, happiness and prosperity. You will receive higher spiritual awareness and grow a lot as a person. You have reached your goals and can now revel in the contentment of your family, friends and the profound effects of love. Happiness now dominates over you and brings you a sense of wholeness. This is the time to share these good feelings with others and embrace all the positive energy that encompasses you.

My experience with Shamanism

Shamanism.... I had heard this word before but never really delved into it as in what it really means or really involves. I came across this term yesterday when I was on the Tarot Town website. They have something called 'Gateway Spread Experiences' which involves an experience with Shamanism through Tarot. It says that it is an experience which will create magical shifts of awareness. I was very interested and became more so, after I read what Shamanism really is. It involves the interaction of our world with the spiritual world through Spirits and guides. I have been having so many profound dreams off late, where I have been travelling to different worlds, and when I wake up, I actually feel I have been somewhere. Also, today I read an article in the newspaper about Shamanism (Times of India Pg. 21). What a coincidence and what a great sign! Check out the TOI article and also Tarot Town. It is also a great place for tarot folk to exchange ideas.

The Gateway spread a week long process and I am very happy to have embarked on this journey. Tonight I will be entering Gate No.2 to find my Animal spirit guide. Wish me luck!

Mother Healing
Magical Mermaids and Dolphins oracle cards

"As your feelings for your mother heal, your desires manifest more rapidly and accurately"

Mothers have a deep bond with us. Mothers, mothers-in-law, mother figures or Mother Mary. We share the same experiences, starting from your birth, to your first word, to your first turn and first walk. She knows you inside out, probably more than you know yourself. Because of numerous reasons, like distance, generation gaps, anger or lack of time, after a few years, our bond weakens as we take her for granted and she keeps slipping away from us. We must heal our feelings towards our mother to realize what is the best in us. If you have lost touch with her, try and make things work with her as she will understand you the most. So, release all your ''mother issues'' so your heart will open to joy and blessings. When you are happy, your mother is unconsciously happy. That is the bond between mother and child. So, forgive and release any old issues relating to your mother or any other mother figures in your life.

Tips for a great Tarot Reading

I have noticed that when people come for a reading, they are nervous and some are anxious, if they have never done a reading before. They have preconceived notions about what a tarot reader looks like and should behave, courtesy film and media portrayals. The truth is that there is nothing to be afraid of as it is not woo-woo or related to the so called 'Dark arts'. We are not Voldemonts out here, but you can call us Dumbledores who help you see the future just as Dumbledore showed Harry Potter his past in the Pensieve, an object used to revive memories. So here we are helping you to get in touch with your inner self and realizing truths of your life. What's so scary about that? In fact it is exciting and can be a lot of fun. It can help you grow spiritually and guide you to do the right thing. Predicting the future just happens to come along with this all. We use the tarot as a tool to understand what is going on just like we look at natal horoscopes to understand our lives.

So, don't step back and don't be afraid. If you are getting a reading for the first time, here are some tips for you. By following them, you will get very clear and accurate readings as most of the time, the client that is YOU are responsible for getting a 100% accurate reading.

1. It is very important to be in a good frame of mind before a reading. So please see that you are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs or any other addictive substances.

2. Before starting the reading, keep your mind clear of all thoughts except the thing you want to ask about. Whenever asking a question, be focused and think of the question in your head while shuffling the cards and while the cards are being laid.

3. Shuffling is an important step as by doing this, your energies get immersed into the cards and they understand who they are dealing with. So, shuffle well. This is how the Tarot cards get to know you.

4. Framing the right question is important. Ask questions such as 'Will this happen?' or 'Should I choose between 'A' or 'B'?' or 'Is 'A' a good husband?' Avoid questions beginning with 'Where' or 'Who'? Because the Tarot can not spell out names or places like an ouija board. Like I said earlier, Tarot is not spooky.

5. You need to have faith in the cards, the tarot reader and also in yourself. After getting a reading, keep the faith. Believe that this will happen. If you do not believe, it is no point to do a reading and waste anyone's time.

6. Don't be hyper!! Don't run on with questions. Take your time and digest what is told to you first. Listen to hidden messages and advice which the tarot gives you. Sometimes this advice could be more important for you than your questions. It has come up in a reading, because it is SUPPOSED to.

7. Always pay a tarot reader his or her fee. Why? Because like any other services provided by so called 'professionals' like doctors and engineers, we too deserve to be paid. There is energy exchange going on. And you must be ethical.

I hope I have cleared things out for those who are unfamiliar with the Tarot and are afraid to get a reading done. Tarot is a window to the soul. Believe in it. Trust it and you will find the Truth.

Sagittarius The Archer

NOVEMBER 23RD TO DECEMBER 21ST

It is very easy to find out if someone is a Sagittarian. In any party, he will always be the liveliest member of the group. He's as blunt as a rubber nail. He could say things like, ''You look good in that shirt because it hides your double chin." If you want the truth, go to a Saggi! He is goofy, merry and happy go lucky. If you stay angry with him, he gets confused and puzzled. He is completely free of malice. He means no harm and doesn't intend to hurt anybody. Don't judge him too harshly. He can be extremely tactless, but under that he is very clever and intelligent. Everything they do, they do it with honesty. Pretence and deception shocks them.

Physically, they have a large head and a high, broad forehead. They have inviting, friendly features. They move their hands dramatically and vigorously when they talk and walk. They are clumsy, usually dropping or spilling things here and there. Their eyes are bright and alert and they sparkle and twinkle. They have a great sense of humor. They can either be very tall and look like sleek horses or look short like young colts. They are normally restless. They hate to sit or stand still. Saggis love animals and they fear nothing. They are attracted to danger and sports. They love speed - cars, planes, motorbikes and roller coasters.

Scarlett Johansson - a Saggi with twinkling and friendly eyes
There is a difference between the blunt speech of Sagittarius and the brutal speech of Scorpio. Scorpio tells the truth, but he is conscious of the effect it will have. Saggi is completely unaware of the effect his words have on anyone. What is on the archer's mind is often on his lips. He is like a child who always speaks the truth. They are loyal and have many friends who love them. They can put their foot in their mouth numerous times and can upset people but not for long. No one can be angry with a Saggi for too long. He is lovable, likable, intelligent and an idealist. Most archers like to cheer up people. They are extroverts and love talking. There are few who are shy and timid. They dream the biggest dreams and aim for the highest goals. Even if his tongue is still, his mind is always busy.

If he gets pushed around or bullied, he can lose his temper. Rebellion against authority is a very popular Sagittarian trait. They can never stay away from anyone in trouble. They will always be the knight in shining armor to rescue the princess or the sweet little girl who rescued the cat from the tree. He can never be accused of dishonesty. Many Saggis love the stage. They are at home giving speeches to an audience. He could sing, dance or perform or make a fool of himself. Show business is full of Sagittarians. There is something child-like about them, refusing to accept the seriousness of life.

Britney Spears has a large forehead and hair like a horse's mane
Healthwise he should take care of his hips, feet, lungs, liver, hands, stomach and intestines. They are prone to accidents. He gives into sickness reluctantly, and recuperates swiftly. Every Saggi is something of a gambler. Las Vegas attracts them like sugar attracts flies. Sagittarius plunges into romance with reckless abandon, but they often stop suddenly when marriage is mentioned. Although he is warm and wonderful in a relationship, he is tricky to catch.

Some unpleasant traits of Saggis are a violent temper, love for food and drink which can lead to obesity or alcoholism. They have the inability to keep a secret. They are very generous. They will loan you money and never ask for it back. They can never successfully tell a lie. No one believes him for a minute. He should wear the turquoise stone. His lucky flower is the carnalian and lucky number is 3. His metal is tin and herb is the Christmas holly berry.

Princess of Wands
Thoth Tarot

The Princess of Wands is the Fire's daughter having flaming energy and detached from deep emotions. She dances in the flames and is seductively beautiful with her unsatiable hunger for life and energy. Her passion is hot, explosive and fast burning down her object of desire. She can lack true warmth of the heart, and be faithless and self-indulgent and unable to feel real compassion and understanding. She can also be greedy, cruel, cold and numb. Today, be aware of who you really are. If you find yourself being cruel and heartless, try and change your ways. Be emotional and immerse yourself into the situation on a human level.

Healing with the Fairies
Make Music

Music soothes the mind and the soul. Singing, dancing or playing an instrument or even listening to someone playing live or recorded, sends your soul into a blissful world. Music also has healing powers and also improves your mood. If a child listens to soft music, he can go off to a peaceful sleep. Even when we sing to plants, they grow faster and healthier. Even we must undergo this musical treatment. It is the cheapest and most easily available form of medicine. Whenever you have a head ache, just lie down and soothe yourself with soft music.

Tarot and India

Wish all of you a very Happy Independence Day!

Looking at today's Times of India was wonderful, as there was an eight page collector's copy of the original newspaper on August 15, 1947. That made me think: How much have we really changed and evolved? Gandhiji used to fast, now Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare fast. Earlier movies used to play in one or two theaters, and have 3 or 4 shows, now we have numerous multiplexes and sometimes up to 10 shows a day. Somewhere along the way, I think we have forgotten our intentions and the dream that our forefathers had, of a free and independent India. We have evolved greatly over the years in some aspects, but in others, we still lag behind. On the world map, we are great economically, but are also the foremost in poverty and corruption. So are we really going ahead or going backwards? India seems to be the land of contradictions and paradoxes.

There is economic development, with everyone affording cars, and then there is traffic and potholes. We have many malls and flyovers coming up, but we still are traditional at heart and celebrate all our festivals. We have become global, and learn languages like French, Italian and Spanish, but we have also not forgotten our native languages: Gujarati, Marathi, Sindhi, Punjabi and many more. On a spiritual level, we love our deities, we do pujas, and go to temples, churches and mosques and are deeply religious, but we also are evolving on a spiritual level, and believe in a high power. There is a lot of mingling of cultures, and we are a rich nation, full of opinions and full of intelligent souls. But, we need to ask a few things that linger in our minds. Are we happy? Are we really free? Is corruption going to be the end of us all?

I asked the Tarot a few questions about our country on today, our independence day.

How is the future of India?

3 of Cups
King of Wands
The Hermit

India is a mixture of people, and has a balance. We know how to have fun, yet we are responsible. We are happy go lucky and friendly, yet we are spiritual. The future looks a bit grim for the world. I see some major problems for the world financially, but India will be one of the few who will not be affected by it. Many nations will take advice from us as we are wise and experienced like The Hermit. The King of Wands card shows that a charming leader among us will lead the way.

Will we finally be meet an end because of corruption?

10 of Pentacles
The World
The Lovers

Corruption is a major problem not only in India, but all over the world, as signified by The World card. There is a lot of money everywhere, and a lot of money involved in everything. That is the main reason for corruption. There will come a time when money will not be given so much importance, only love will reign. Till that time, corruption is a world wide issue. Corruption is also an individual thing. We can choose not to be corrupt individually by not accepting or giving bribes and by listening to our conscience.
It is an an individual choice.

What do the future generations need to learn?

3 of Cups
10 of Cups
The Hanged man

We got the 3 of Cups again! Which is a good card to come up. Here in this question, I feel this card symbolizes the unity of religion. We must all love one another and live in peace. The 3 Cups could signify the three major religions Hindus, Muslims and Christians in our country. We must all live in harmony and so should the future generations. If we do, there is nothing stopping us from pure happiness and success. We must be conscious of maintaining a peaceful environment and not hurting anybody.

I also took some angel advice for this question - The card which came up is Family Culture which says :

"Learn more about your family's stories and history"
The future generations need to learn and remember what our ancestors did for us, they fought for our freedom and we must not misuse it. We pride ourselves on our rich and varied cultural heritage; we mustn't lose it, that is what keeps us different from the rest of the world. All in all this has been a very positive reading for India, I shouldn't have been so pessimistic about our future from the start.

I'm sure there are many more questions in your minds, but these are the basic ones which cropped up for me. If anyone wants to ask any India-related question, I can ask it and we can discuss it.

When you wish to feel more centered, calm and peaceful, call upon Chamuel. He is the archangel of global and personal peace. He is very kind, loving and sweet, and he'll evoke a pleasant feeling of excitement when he works with you. Know that Chamuel sees your true qualities and loves you unconditionally. Scorpio the Scorpion / Eagle / Grey Lizard

OCTOBER 24TH TO NOVEMBER 22ND

A scorpion is a nocturnal arachnid that attacks and paralyzes its prey with a poison injected by the long, curved tail, used for defense and destruction with a fatal sting. The Scorpio sunsign is ruled by the planet Pluto. One of their unique features are the Scorpion eyes which pierce with hypnotic intensity. Most people feel nervous and ill at ease under their steady gaze. Their eyes penetrate into your very soul. Their voice is velvety soft, husky or sharply cutting, but they speak slowly in staccato.

The Scorpio has total ego. He knows what he is and what he is not, and nothing else will change this knowledge. Insults will roll off his back and compliments don't move him an inch. He needs no one to tell him his vice or virtues. Scorpions are rarely nervous, their natures may be modified by other influences in their charts, but very slightly. They have sharp features and seem well drawn, and a beak-shaped nose. Usually their complexion is very pale and they have heavily knitted eyebrows. They appear to be cold and frosty, but this is only to conceal the boiling inner nature. No matter how their emotions are stirred, you will rarely see them reflected on the Scorpio's frozen, immobile face. They can proudly and consciously display a blank expression. You will rarely see them blushing or flushing, frowning or grinning. Their smiles are rare but genuine.

Aishwariya Rai is known as the ice maiden because of her
cold, frosty personality and her steely glares
There is a particular type of Scorpio who moves and speaks quickly, and appears to have an open, friendly manner. He's really just playing a game with all this happy talk, inside he's just as determined and the more typical Pluto people. Be on guard with all Scorpions, they're not wicked, they're just not soft or naive. They don't beat around the bush if you ask them something. It'll either be a 'Yes' or a 'No', not a 'maybe'. They find it beneath their dignity to give false praise and flattery. When he says something nice to you, treasure it. You can be sure it's sincere and honest. If he says, you have a good voice, stop singing in the shower and grab a microphone. They give wise advice and are very generous. They naturally attract loyal and dedicated admirers or envious and spiteful enemies.

There is a haunting sweetness about them, and often a gentle sympathy for the sick. More United States presidents have been born under this sign than any other. Even in India, the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi were Scorpions. Scorpios come under three categories: The Scorpion, The Eagle and the Grey Lizard. He can be like the nocturnal scorpion, who will sting others and even sting himself to death just for the pleasure of it. He can be like the eagle, glorious and soaring rising above his earthly limitations and be just and wise. Or he can be like the grey lizard, which is between the scorpion and the eagle, who become victims of their own neurotic concern of their self. Instead of stinging the opponent, like the scorpion or rising above the bitterness, like the eagles, they bitterly withdraw in tangled hatreds hoping fate will punish their enemies and unconsciously draw destruction upon themselves. But, it is never too late for a lizard to transform into an eagle. He possesses a deep kind of magic which all Scorpions possess, they just have to call upon it.

Shahrukh Khan has deeply knit eyebrows
and a beak-shaped nose

He is fiercely possessive of what he believes is his, including success, but his ambition is never obvious. He quietly waits for the chance to move ahead, knowing he is qualified for the position above him. He takes control, slowly but surely. Scorpio can do just about anything he wants to do. Pluto is the planet of the mind and body, and most of the world's best surgeons are Scorpions. He was born knowing the secrets of life and death. The ancient mysteries fascinate his brilliant mind. He can be a politician, a television star or a bartender, but he'll manage to top all his competitors. And he'll do it so effortlessly, that it will seem like an act of fate rather than his own powerful will.

Scorpio is intensely loyal to friends. They can give up their life for a cause. Scorpio never forgets a gift or a kindness, and it's richly rewarded. But, he also remembers an injury or an injustice. Scorpio can destroy his body with excesses, melancholy or hard work. But he has very strong power that can make him recover from any illness. A long rest and a change of attitude are the best cures. The main areas prone to sickness and accidents are the reproductive organs, nose, throat, heart, spine, legs and ankles. They should avoid fire, explosives and radiation. Scorpio is deeply interested in religion, and curious about life and death and passionately drawn towards sex. He is also heroic, and dedicated to his family and love, and protective of children and weaker souls. He can be a saint or a sinner.

One of the strangest patterns in astrology is the death of a relative in the family within a year before or after the birth of a Scorpio. And when a Scorpio dies, there will be a birth in the family within the year or the year after. It happens at least ninety-five percent of the time. Pluto's symbol is the phoenix, rising from its own ashes, and Scorpio personifies the resurrection from the grave. The Scorpio flowers are the thistle and the honeysuckle. His gemstone is the bloodstone and lucky number is 9.

Messages from Your Angels Oracle cards

"To help heal this situation, see the other person's point of view with compassion."

You are probably dealing with a situation which is difficult for you to comprehend. Sometimes we feel that we are so sure of what we want or have planned, that if anything unexpected or out of the blue happens, we are not able to digest it. Also, when other people's opinions don't match our own, it puts us in a dilemma. It is important to look at things from the other person's point of view as it gives us an overall view of the situation. When we look at something, it is only through our eyes and our personal experiences. It is not necessary that we are right or even wrong all the time. Other people have opinions too and they must be considered if we have to live happily and in harmony. Nobody's opinion is too small to consider, even a small child's. Look at everyone with compassion, and if you have been arguing with somebody, stop to realize that they might be right.

Libra the Scales

SEPTEMBER 24TH TO OCTOBER 23RD

Librans are like gentle doves of peace, they go around patching up quarrels among others, yet they enjoy a good argument themselves. They are extremely intelligent, good-natured and pleasant, but they can also be sulky, and dislike taking orders. At the same time, they're naive and gullible. They talk a lot but are also good listeners. They are restless, but never are in a hurry. In short, Libra is a sign of contradictions. They are a puzzle for themselves and everyone else around them. Librans are a sign of love, beauty and sweetness, but only for half of the time. The other half could be quarrelsome, stubborn, restless, depressed and confused. Libra is sometimes up, sometimes down. And sometimes like the scales, they are a perfect balance.

There is no such thing which is a typical Libran feature, except the Libran dimple. Most Librans have a dimple on their cheek or the chin. They always have a pleasant expression on the face. Even if they're angry, they can look neutral.Their voices are typically sweet and clear, and rarely scream or shout. The women are mostly pretty and the men are handsome. Libran men have a quality, not exactly feminine, but something nice, which separates them from wrestlers or other sweaty types. Even an ugly Libran will be very charming, a class apart from the crowd. Every Libran has a wonderful smile which can melt anyone. Librans are very curvy - most of them have curly hair and they have curvy figures, sometimes like an hourglass. They have a laugh that rings with merriment (I couldn't help thinking of Simi Garewal's laugh as Kiki, she's also a Libran, also has the hourglass figure by the way). When the Libran scales are balanced, it is delightful, like meeting an angel from paradise. But, it is difficult for them to be balanced most of the time. Most of them indulge in excessive drinking, eating or love-making. They could be excessively busy or just loll around the whole day doing nothing. Once they have plopped on the couch, it will be difficult for them to even lift a glass. You can call them terribly lazy when the Libra is this way, which might shock their colleagues at work, who only see them working hard.

Kate Winslet has Libran traits-
curvy figure, soft voice, pleasant
Librans understand their body and when they need complete rest, they efficiently manage themselves. They are adept at balancing their body, mind and soul and know what they need. But, like the scales, their behaviour can keep changing, sometimes they could be overflowing with tears and sentiment, sometimes be harsh and sarcastic. They're not like the Gemini twins, where there are two separate characters within a person, but they keep on fluctuating as their scales keep on dipping from here to there. There is a deep richness to Libran emotions and a philosophic approach to sorrows and joys. In fact, many intellectuals, philosophers and writers belong to this Sun sign such as Samuel Coleridge, T.S. Eliot, Oscar Wilde, Michael Focault, Miguel de Cervantes, Mario Puzo, Jackie Collins, Harold Pinter, F. Scott Fitzgerald, e.e. cummings and Doris Lessing.

Librans are mostly healthy and fit, but the biggest threat to them is overindulgence which causes problems like obesity, stomach disorders, skin problems and ulcers. Excessive use of alcohol can cause kidney and bladder problems. Generally Librans are healthier than most people, because of the effect of Venus. They need soft music, pleasant books and soothing words to heal them whenever they are sick. Such an atmosphere will heal the Libran very quickly.

Ranbir Kapoor, a handsome Libran having love for the arts
It is dangerous to make a general statement like "All men are fools" in front of a Libran or something like "Mumbai is better than Delhi". He'll weigh all the pros and cons, and argue till his last breath. This is a good trait, of great analysis but sometimes it can lead the Libran person themselves into indecision. The Libran can make an excellent strategist, his ability to see all the sides and helping people to work harmoniously together are great traits. One thing they hate, its war and bloodshed. Most Librans are so indecisive, they can't decide what shoes or clothes to wear. But, they always deny their indecisiveness. Most Librans are wholesome and well-balanced. They are very graceful and not careless. They have a fantastic ability to ponder over deep subjects. They are born with an affection for books and a respect for the printed word. You are sure to find an extensive library in every Libran home. They love the harmony of sounds, colours, poetry and the proper use of words. They are highly influenced by the arts. He is an artistic soul at heart loving soft music, interesting conversation, good food and fine wines. He should wear the opal gemstone and the metal copper. His lucky number is 6 and flower is the mint.

Goddess
Angel Therapy Oracle cards

"Express your Divine feminine energy, embracing its magical intuition and nurturing qualities."

You need sacred female energy in your life, which brings gifts such as intuition, nurturing and artistic expression. Maybe you have been spending too much time in 'manly' tasks which do not require your creativity and self-expression. You need to engage in goddess-like activities such as singing and dancing and express your intuitive, artistic and nurturing side. You are also guided to call upon the goddess of your choice - Laxmi, goddess of wealth, Brigit, goddess of healing and courage, Mother Mary, goddess of mothers, Athena, goddess of wisdom, or any other goddess.

Within every woman there are three parts of the goddess - Maiden (inner child, pure, virginal and sometimes bold), Mother(nurturing qualities) and Matriach(the teacher). You need to express these different aspects of yourself and maintain a balance among them. Spend some time with all these different characteristics and you will feel balanced and energized.

Morality
Osho Zen Tarot

This is one of the cards belonging to the Clouds suit in the pack, which is the equivalent to the Swords suit. Morality is a very heavy word. It means judging between the right and the wrong. Morality has restricted all the juice and energy of life to the narrow confines of the mind. We are so afraid of doing the wrong thing that we stop enjoying life. Being very correct and proper makes you stiff and severe. We must not weigh everything in black or white, and be rigid. Judgements are products of the mind and of our conditioning. We must learn to appreciate the beauty and godliness within everybody. Only then will we be able to see life for what it really is.
Morality is just superficial, and it is cultural. It is not spiritual. Just be alert, and be conscious. This alertness will awaken you to true spiritual awareness.

Virgo the Virgin

AUGUST 24TH TO SEPTEMBER 23RD

Virgo is the sign of the virgin, but you can't take the symbolism too seriously. Although there are lots of Virgo bachelors and spinsters, there are plenty who get married. The Virginal nature is a natural state for the Virgo, and they do not burst with fire and passion. Even though marriage is not their natural state, many of them are devoted to their families and work as a team with their spouses. A Virgo is usually the gentle, attractive man standing in the corner. He is neat and punctual. The Virgo girl is quiet, with beautiful soft eyes who is patient, neat, clean and organized. Virgos are very hardworking, and they are usually the ones who work late at the office. They are uncomfortable in big crowds. They are too busy to daydream and too tired to wish upon stars.

He always gives the impression that there is a serious problem on his mind that he is struggling to solve, or that he is secretly worried about something. Virgo eyes are so clear that you can see your reflection in them. They sparkle with intelligence and clarity of thought. Most of them are attractive with delicate lips, nose and ears. They are graceful and charming but very critical of themselves and fussy about photographs. You can catch them tidying themselves in front of a mirror when they feel that no one is looking. They are always dressed neatly, with no buttons or threads hanging anywhere. He appears to be fragile, but he's not. They can stand intense work for longer periods of time than the average person. They are generally calm and cool, but they have a lot of inner anxiety which upsets their digestion and emotional balance. A typical Virgo trait is to strain themselves to breaking point to fulfill obligations.

Cameron Diaz plays a neatness freak in
'What Happens in Vegas'
Virgos are dependable and sincere. But they are great at making excuses if they don't want to go somewhere, as they are great actors. He loves taking baths, some even take up to four baths a day. Even when he is in love, he has no illusions. He is particular about laziness and health issues. Even in love, he will never excuse any incompetence from his spouse. Since their ruling planet is Mercury, you can catch some witty one-liners from them and an irresistible charm. They get put off by vulgarity, stupidity or carelessness and then become nervous, irritable or scolding. But, most of the time they are genuinely nice people, who love to help, specially in hospitals. A Virgo nurse or doctor would be the best bet. An average Virgo will have a well-stocked medicine cabinet and will be the first one to cure a friend. He loves stocking up on soaps and shampoos and their routinely habits. Even on a holiday, they behave in the same manner; they never goof off. A Virgo may criticize you till you go wild, but when you're in a soup he'll make things alright in no time. His orderly mind can't stand procrastination, neglected details or confusion. He is the kind of guest who will help the hostess clean up after the party.

Akshay Kumar is known for his punctuality and discipline
Virgos are quick to deny their habits and traits. He has a blindness to his faults and is unable to see his own weaknesses. They will deny that they are neat, and say that they are terrible sloppy. Many Virgos have a slight limp, or a peculiar and unusual quality to their walk or posture. You won't find them lavishly spending money. They are conservative in handling cash, and dislike accepting favours from others. They don't want to depend on anybody nor have any obligations. They are secretly afraid of old age, which will cause them to depend on others. He helps friends in trouble, but will not help beggars or 'good-for-nothings.' They labour hard for what they have and extravagance shocks them. They dislike spendthrifts and lazy people. Virgos are the most punctual of all the Sunsigns. If he says 'dinner at eight' then better be on time. They seem selfish, because they have the ability to firmly say 'no' to people. When he makes an error, be tactful, or you will lose a friend. They take good care of themselves, and are fussy about their body and their diet. But they could have problems of digestion, stomach, intestines and headaches. They are susceptible to chest congestion. Most of them are vegetarians because they are so caring and couldn't hurt a fly. They are like cats and birds, small and helpless. They like truth, economy and punctuality and dislike dirt, sloppiness and idleness. Virgos should wear platinum, as it compliments them and should wear green jade stones. His colours are beige, grey, navy blue, shades of green and white. His flower is the pure and alluring hyacinth.
