Card of the Day - May 31, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the ''Oracle of Visions'' deck is Card No. 3. The card shows a woman with her eyes closed, deep in thought. There are astrological symbols in the sky, and many other small creatures like a: butterfly, dragonfly, frog, fish, grasshopper and a white rat. She sits on top of a box and is covered with a rose-coloured cloth and nothing else. Listen to your inner instincts. Like these tiny creatures, you need to be intuitive. You could just close your eyes, until an inner voice tells you what is the right thing to do. Get in touch with yourself. We all have basic instincts, like animals, birds and insects, and we can 'know' the right thing to do, but we only need to polish our skills.

Card of the Day - May 30, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Oracle of Visions is Card No. 45. The card shows a man, handling puppets. He is playing out a scene below, where there is a prince and a pretty dancer. Below the staging area, are his other props like hats, horses and other things. He wears golden thimbles on his fingers, showing that his fingers are magical and he possesses a golden, special talent. He is focusing and concentrating on his art. This card is a reminder- who do you want to be? Do you want to be a puppet and let others decide your destiny? Or do you want to be the puppet master and make your own destiny? The choice is yours.

Card of the Day - May 29, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Oracle of Visions deck is Card No. 52. The card shows a woman wearing only an armour, made of barbed wire, metal and iron. She is focused and is charging forward. She stands atop a globe, wearing thing-high boots, ready to conquer the world. There are some words written around the globe, Decisions, Determine, Deserve. These are three important key words of this card. First, we need to make up our mind, to decide. Then we need to be determined, and to focus on it. Then only, will we deserve success in our life, and reach our goals. Very soon, you have to make an important decision, and stick by it. Focus on your goals, and be determined. Then, you will make your mark and achieve the success you desire.

Card of the Day - May 26, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Oracle of Visions is Card No. 33. The card shows a beautiful ballerina, who has a frock made of feathers, and is like the bird besides her. She sits pretty on a bench, threading a needle to catch the fish below her. Below her are fishes swimming, and there is also the Pisces symbol present. Behind her is a cherry blossom tree in full bloom. The essence of this card is Patience and Timing. Even when things appear perfect on the surface, we must wait patiently like the lady, waiting for the fish to get caught. Be at leisure. There is no need to rush anything. Things will happen when the timing is right. She waits along with the kingfisher, who is also waiting for the fish to arrive. The kingfisher is considered to be a bird of tranquility and patience. Wait patiently, and wait for the time to pass by.

Card of the Day - May 25, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the ''Oracle of Visions'' for this special day, World Tarot Day is a message for all of us. It is Card No. 21. The lady in the picture could be Lady Luck. She has all good luck and bad luck symbols around her: She has lucky symbols like the number 777, a four-leaf clover, horseshoe and has a Royal flush in her hair. She also has supposedly bad luck symbols, superstititious symbols like Friday the 13th, a black cat and a broken mirror. So what is luck? It is what we make of our life. No one is lucky or unlucky. You make your own luck. Do not depend on superstition or revolve your life around it. So, toss the dice in your life, and make your own luck as it lies in your own hands.

Card of the Day - May 24, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the ''Oracle of Visions'' deck is Card No. 13. This card shows a woman using a sewing machine to weave something out of a few colourful threads she has - red, yellow, purple and green. These threads are magical threads, and she is indeed weaving magic, as there are sparks forming where they meet, resulting in the formation of a rainbow. Today's message is that, there is no limit as to what you can do with your magical powers. You have the ability to create something beautiful and unique which nobody else can. A creative person, is indeed magical. There are so many fashion designers in the world, yet each piece they make is unique and a work of art. If you believe in yourself, and your talents, you will be able to bring about a change in the world. Rainbows are a sign of beauty, and hope, and also the blessings of God and the angels. Know that they are always with you, when you follow the right path.

Card of the Day - May 18, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Oracle of Visions is Card no. 18. This card is so interesting, because is shows a mother holding her child closely. She is protecting him from all the harshness of the world. For her baby's sake, she has taken up the role of a mother. Today, you will be very connected with your mother or your child (if you are a mother). You can truly be yourself with your mother, as she knows the real you. In front of the world, you always wear a mask, afraid of showing your real self. To your mother, you will always be a baby. She pampers you and protects you always. Today take a moment, to think about the relationship you share with your mother. You are a part of her, and were born from her womb. You will always share this connection.

Card of the Day - May 15, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the 'Oracle of Visions' comes pretty late in the day, well it is now night :-D But it is so apt for my day, which explains the late post. The card shows a woman who holds many keys on her neck. There is a mysterious box, but inspite of the many keys, she is unable to open the box. Why? Because the key to the box is in the magical sphere. There is a way to open the sphere, and it seems like a cryptic message, something that Robert Langdon would solve. Today's message is - You know your path, but are fumbling to get there. You are trying to get there, and are almost there. Keep trying. Also, you have a lot on your plate right now. The way to solve your problem, is to think quietly and unravel it, like a puzzle. The answers could come in single alphabets, but slowly and surely you will solve the mystery.

Card of the Day - May 14, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Oracle of Visions is Card no. 26. You are about to embark on a new journey of excitement in your life. There is a new path that has unfolded before you, which will make you grow. This experience will affect you greatly and will stay with you all your life. Be alert to learning new lessons as a new chapter begins. You will get to see a new side of yourself, and look at yourself from a different angle. Things that you earlier thought impossible, will be accomplished by you. You have an inner instinct to learn and explore, and this is the right opportunity for you.

Card of the Day - May 11, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the 'Oracle of Visions' deck is Card no. 9. This card shows a man wearing a jester's costumebalancing a young girl who is inside a hoop. Below him are two roses, and there is also a candlestand with three lit candles. In the background are Ciro Marchetti's cards, very interestingly the 'Strength' card from his three tarot decks- Tarot of Dreams, Gilded Tarot and Legacy of the Divine Tarot. What the man is doing is displaying his physical strength(we can see his muscles) but also grace, delicacy and performing an art. Being strong is an art. Today you will have to be strong, may be not physically strong, but mentally strong like the jester and the young girl. Keep your flame alive and like the Strength cards, learn to tame the beasts around you with your gentleness and feminine qualities.

Card of the Day - May 10, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the ''Oracle of Visions'' is Card No. 20. The card shows a man blindfolded with a red cloth. In his fingers he holds many gold chains with gold pendants on them having different symbols. There is the yin and yang symbol of Tao philosophy, the symbol of Shintoism from Japan, the cross from Christianity, the moon and star symbol from Islam, the star symbol of Wiccans, the nine-pointed star symbol of Bahai faith, Om the symbol of Hinduism, the Sikh symbol called the Khanda, and many other symbols of other religions in the world. Below this image, is the evolution of man from ape to man (homoerectus). This card shows a very important message. While we all belong to a gold chain, and a precious religion, we should not be blinded by it. We must use religion to bind us together, not separate us. Essentially, we are all humans, as we all have evolved in the same way, so we have something in common. We first belong to the human race, and secondly to any religion. So, lets live together in peace.

Card of the Day - May 9, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the 'Oracle of Visions' deck is Card no. 41. This card shows a lady's face attached to a mirror. It screams out, '' Look at yourself in the mirror. Are you losing your true self?'' Carl Jung coined a term, 'persona' which means 'the mask that you project to the outside world'. Everybody has a persona, and project different images of themselves. The problem arises when you can not make out yourself, the real YOU. There is a blur with your real self and your perceived self. This happens to actors in films when they are so involved with their characters, that they go crazy and start 'being' those characters in their real life. The lady in this card is old, with wrinkles. She has removed her masks, which are now resting on her dressing table. Also, on the table are Russian dolls, which I think symbolize playing different roles, and being different people. Today's key message is - Dont lose yourself in the pursuit of pleasing others and maintaining an image. Try and be yourself as much as possible. Loosen your mask a bit, and remove your make-up.

Card of the Day - May 8, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the ''Oracle of Visions'' is Card no. 29. This is a card of Temptation and reminds me of the traditional Tarot card The Devil. This card shows a woman wrapped in fire, and a snake holding an apple in her hand. These are all symbols for temptation. Eve was tempted by Satan, the serpent and she wanted to possess the apple of knowledge. You too could be tempted to do something wrong today. You could be tempted to cheat, lie or deceive somebody. Above the woman is a man who holds a red cloth. Be careful of what you are tempted by, because sooner or later, the truth will be revealed, and you will be caught. Today steer clear of all temptation. It could come in the form of an extra marital affair, a bribe, cheating in your exams or lying to your friend. Do not be sucked into the whirlpool of temptation.

Card of the Day - May 7, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the ''Oracle of Visions'' is Card no. 34. The card shows a horse going round around a stick. It is a merry go round horse, and the place looks like a room where one keeps toys. There is a wooden boy like Pinochhio and another doll looking at the horse. He is beautiful, but he dreams of breaking the glass sphere where he is trapped and becoming a real horse, roaming around wild and free. Today you may feel trapped in your current circumstances, and wish for a major change. What is trapping you? How far are you from your dreams? Will you break the mould and the rut and reach for the stars?

Card of the Day - May 5, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Oracle of Visions is Card no. 27. The card shows a woman, wearing a rose-coloured dress, holding a flower in her hand. Before here are some dangerous looking plants, almost look like a cross between cactus and venus fly trap. Behind her is a lamp to where moths and butterflies, seem to be attracted like the phrase - moths to a flame. This woman seems to be a seductress. She has a veil, which means that she has secrets and does not show her true self. She is attractive, but can be dangerous. Today, do not succumb to temptation. Do what is right, and do not be fooled by those wolves in sheep's clothing. Evil is always attractive, that's how it operates. Do not be weak, or get carried away.

Card of the Day - May 4, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Oracle of Visions is Card no. 25. The man in the card looks like The Magician, from the Tarot. He has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and looks like he is weaving a spell on all of us looking at the card. He has gold rings, a dove and shiny buttons all around him. Things seem to be happening fast, as he wields his magic on us.Today, you need to believe that you are made of magic and are capable of doing magical things. Have you been doubting yourself lately? Do you get put down by others who tell you, that you are not good enough? Put all those thoughts aside, and focus on what you really want to do with your life. You can be whatever you want to be. You can have the world at your finger tips.

Oracle of Visions COTD - May 3, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the ''Oracle of Visions'' is Card No. 15. The card shows a lady in a purple coat, and feathers in her hair. She blends well with the birds in the sky, who are also purple, and with feathers. She is one of them, and holds in her hand, her ticket to freedom. She wants to be free, but is bogged down by either the letter or the rose. The letter could represent a job, a career choice, a divorce, or a message. The rose could represent a love, romance, marriage or a proposal. This card could mean different things to different people in different situations. What aspect of this card applies to you? Are you being bogged down in your marriage? Do you want to soar high, but are being clipped down because of your job? Are you not enjoying your job, or feel stagnant in it? You need to make an important decision, so that you can be your true self, and soar like the purple birds in the sky.

Oracle of Visions COTD - May 2, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the 'Oracle of Visions' is the No. 36 card. This card shows an angel, with beautiful feathery wings, being wrapped in a red cord. He feels trapped, as his wings have been stuck together, restricting his movements. He also appears to be in pain and seems to have given up. He also has small wings on his ankles. What he doesn't know is that there is a golden sword just below him, and he can easily cut off the cord. God only gives you how much you can take. If there is a problem in your life, the solution too, is with you. If you feel clipped, and stuck, free yourself with a sword. You have all the tools for success and achieving what you desire.

Oracle of Visions COTD - May 1, 2012

Let me begin this month of May, with Ciro Marchetti's special oracle, the Oracle of Visions. This entire month, I will remove my card of the day from this unique deck, which has pictures of jugglers, masked men and supernatural elements. Today's COTD is the No. 48 card. I see a woman who has special gifts, and is blessed. She opens an antique jar, and out emerge glowing fairies. Today's message is - You are gifted. You are special and unique. Do not doubt yourself. Do not hide your gifts behind a veil. She wears a veil covering her head and on the sides, but not her face. She is starting to open up to herself and her soul. KNOW that you are special in your heart, and are always blessed with angels and fairies by your side.

Wands : The Fire that Tends to All

Fire has always been an important part of our lives. Right from the beginning, when the cave men discovered fire by rubbing two flint stones together, things have never been the same. In different cultures, fire has been worshiped, feared and respected. To see what Chloe, who is from U.K has to say about Fire in her blog, Inner Whispers, click here.  In Greek mythology, we have the Goddess Hestia, the goddess of fire, warmth and hearth, and the Greek God Hephaestus, the god of the forge who is the craftsman of fire. In Hinduism, fire is very important, as diyas (mud candles) and agarbattis (incense sticks) are lit during poojas (prayers) and it is believed to be very auspicious. Fire is created, to burn away the negative vibrations in the house, by performing a havan, a religious bonfire to purify the house. Even after death, the bodies are burnt in a funeral pyre. During marriages, the couple take 7 pheras (circles) around the fire, promising to keep the 7 vows of marriage.

Even in the Tarot, fire is one of the important symbols. The fire is seen in its destructive form in 'The Tower' card, and also in 'The Lovers' and 'The Devil' card on the tree and on the woman's tail. Most importantly, the Wands suit in the Tarot is ruled by the Fire element. The other suits are Swords (Air), Coins (Earth) and Cups (Water). In a very simple exercise, using illustrations from the Robin Wood Tarot, I will associate each Wands card, with an aspect of Fire, to better understand the card. So are you ready for this Tarot exercise?

Ace of Wands - Flame

Like all beginnings, Fire too begins with a spark, and a flame. The Ace of Wands represents the beginning of passion, creativity and a new spark.

Two of Wands - Candle

A candle can be used to light another candle. By lighting each other, they share a bond, like the Two of Wands card, which is a card of togetherness and partnership. Supporting one another, being a candle for each other, and lighting each other up, when one is down and extinguished.

Three of Wands - Sparkler

A sparkler is a happy form of fire. It makes children happy, as it gives them hope and makes them dream. The three of wands card represents that part of fire where you have received what you wanted, and there is a mini-celebration. I love sparklers on my birthday cake!

Four of Wands - Gas Stove

This is a card of happiness at home, stability as with all the fours. A gas stove represents good food, family life, health and a good state of mind. This card is one of stability and a happy family life, victory achieved as a result of good bonding and a happy mind.

Five of Wands - Matchsticks

Matchsticks are fragile, yet when they are together they can create a riot, and can light up and burn anything. The Five of Wands is a card of struggle, strife and competition in your life and career. A matchstick can do its work on its own, but if there are five matchsticks around each other, they do not have a direction, and can create havoc. Each match gives its own separate light, and only when they work together in one direction, can they be productive. Otherwise, it is a waste of energy and fire.

Six of Wands - Fireworks

This has to be the happiest representation of the fire element in our world. The Six of Wands is the Victory card. Whenever I see this man on a horse, off on a procession, I think of fireworks bursting in the background somewhere. It is time to celebrate for work well done.

Seven of Wands - Torch

In this card, the man looks like he is trying to save himself, or prove that he is on the right side, whereas he has others who are against him. He is holding the torch, the torch of truth. They are holding torches of rebellion. You are up for a fight in this card, and the only way you can win is if you stand up for yourself, and your light of truth.

Eight of Wands - Rockets

These wands look like rockets to me! They represent communication, speed and the flash of lightning. They zoom past the card like rockets, arrows of fire. Now is the time to strike, the iron is hot. Like hot rods of steel, these wands are fast paced, and energetic. They are a very powerful form of fire.

Nine of Wands - Fire burns

Fire causes deep burns and wounds. This man has been burnt once, and is afraid of being burnt twice. This aspect of fire, teaches us to cool down when we have been playing with fire too much. We need a glass of water, and a cool bath sometimes. We are out of balance with the Fire element.

Ten of Wands - Bonfire

The man in this card looks completely burnt out. He is on his last legs. Just like a bonfire, which is formed out of adding pieces of wood, paper and even rubbish, he is burning away endlessly, and looks pooped out. Endless bonfires pollute the environment, and by slogging away like a workaholic, you too will pollute yourself from within.

Some Fire Gods and Goddesses representing the Fire element:

Page of Wands - Phrixus riding the ram (Mythic tarot)

Knight of Wands - Krishna - Prince of Wands in the East (Haindl Tarot)

Queen of Wands - Hestia (Greek Goddess of the Hearth and Home)
                   - Pele ( Hawaiin Goddess of dances, lightning and volcanoes)

King of Wands - Agni (Hindu God of Fire) He has blood red skin with coal-black eyes. He rides a ram.

This TarotBlogHop made me look at the Wands in a completely different way. It also has me thinking about the other Tarot elements as well!! Water has many forms: lakes, rivers, oceans, puddles, rain, tears and tsunamis. Air has many forms such as wind, hurricanes and lovely breezes. And Earth too has many forms like mountains, sand, dirt and soil. I hope to explore the different elements of the Tarot to deepen my knowledge about the cards. You should too...
