Card of the Day - April 30, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the ''Nine of Cups'' from the Revelations Tarot. Interestingly, this card has come up once before, but in the reversed position. Today, it is in the upright position. The card shows a merman who seems at peace, surrounded by beautiful fishes. (i bought three pairs of additional fishes yesterday, for my fish tank!) He is content to be where he is, and is satisfied by the current situation, but I cannot help but notice that he is without a companion. A key meaning to this card is that today, you will be happy being by yourself, in your own space. You have a lot of catching up to do on things you have been thinking of. You will be able to do an important task which is close to your heart. I have a lot of pending things to do! Where do I start? LOL. I think I'll start by writing my post for the TarotBlogHop which will be on my blog at the decided time which is tomorrow: May 1 at 4pm GMT or 9.30pm IST.

Card of the Day - April 28, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the 'Revelations Tarot' is the ''Seven of Pentacles''. The card shows a man, who kind of looks like a robot who is made of steel folding his arms, waiting in anticipation. The pentacles around him seem to have frozen, and they have an icy sort of a feel. Things seem to be at a standstill for you today, and there is nothing you can do about it, but wait patiently for events to unfold by themselves. Till then, do not get frustrated, like the guy in the reversed side of this card. He looks like he is throwing a fit. Be cool, calm and collected so that when the right time comes, you know what to do, and do the right thing. Patience is the key to success.

Card of the Day- April 27, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is Justice (Rx). The way I see this card is that justice will be done, but after much delay. It will not be a smooth process, it will seem mechanical and technical, and not flow smoothly as it does in movies and fairytales. I see the eye of justice as closed, but it's there, so there is still hope. On the side, there is a machine sort of thing which looks like a clock. Justice here, is a very mechanical process, like the working of a clock. Sometimes, a clock slows down or gets stuck. But it does get moving again, with repair and new batteries. So have patience, as justice will be delayed but not denied.

Card of the Day - April 26, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the King of Pentacles. This king looks serious, secure and calm. He has no worries, as he has a stable future/ He knows what to do, as he is logical and has planned out everything in his life in an organized manner. Today, you will be having some of the qualities of this king - you will get organized and set up goals for your future. You will find ways of protecting your assets. You could open a new bank account today, or make a new fixed deposit. You could also invest in something today which will reap benefits in the future.

Card of the Day - April 25, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Revelations Tarot is the ''Six of Wands''. This is such a positive card to come today. It is a card of victory and joyful celebrations! My dad will be coming today, and there will be a mini family reunion of sorts, so this fits perfectly with today. Also, it is my parent's wedding anniversary. Definitely a day of celebration and family togetherness. The victorious man on a horse looks to the sky, proud of his achievements. He has reached where he wants to. The people around him are happy for him. Today, is a good time to spend with your near and dear ones. Know that the people around you are genuinely happy for you, and are your well-wishers. Keep charging forth as you have found your life's purpose.

Card of the Day - April 24, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Revelations Tarot is the ''Knight of Pentacles''. This card is red and gold in colour and signifies the passion and dedication of this hardworking knight. Today will be a busy day. You will have to fulfill many tasks, and will barely get time to sit by yourself. You will have a hectic schedule and be busy with work. Today, the key to success is hard work and patience. This knight represents a phase in our life when life is like a routine. We know what to do, but it is hard work to complete the tasks at hand. You should save for the future and plan your goals. Your life is now stable and your future is secured.

Card of the Day - April 23, 2012

After a long break, I will continue my Card of the Day posts. From the 'Revelations Tarot', today's card is ''The Fool (Rx)''. In the reversed position, the Fool is cautious and worries about the risks. He looks before he leaps and thinks wisely before making any impulsive decision. Today, you are like the Reversed Fool. Think twice before jumping into anything, as you could regret it later. There is a baby in a rose, symbolizing new beginnings. There is also the moon representing the subconscious and intuition. Pause and consider what is to be done, and listen to your intuition. Another aspect of this card is that you have been doubting yourself too much. Have some confidence in yourself and don't let your thoughts pollute your being.

Experiences with Exhibiting your Talents, Skeptics and Children

With my Tarot & Angel Cards at the Exhibition

I have been very busy since the last few days, and it is the reason for my absence on this blog. I haven't been able to post my Card of the Day as well. I have been busy with a Tarot stall that I held at an exhibition on April 19th and 20th. It was hectic, and a lot of fun. I thank my mom who stood by my side and helped me along the way. There were many ups and downs. It was HOT and on top of that, the fans would conk off at times. Some people wouldn't know what tarot was and referred to my cards as 'Magic tricks' :-S Some were skeptics, and then again, some were receptive. So all in all, it was an interesting experience to put up a spiritual stall among all other materialistic things like jewelry, clothes and watches. Whoever did a reading with me, were very happy and satisfied, and some skeptics who tried the cards for a lark were pleasantly surprised. I think I made a few of them converters.

With my mom at the Exhibition

Along with Tarot, I also did Angel card readings which as always, are so accurate, specially if you have 'no question' in mind. The Angel cards dig out your deepest secrets and give you guidance without being too intimidating, specially for first-timers and for children. There were so many children attracted to my stall (I guess shopping would bore them!). They asked such interesting questions such as 'Do I have good luck in my life?' and 'What will I be when I grow up?' There was a particular girl who was so curious about my cards, and asked so many questions.

Reading for children

This is an incident I want to share with you. A young girl, of 9 years old came to my stall and the cards said that she would be a doctor when she grew up. From the Goddess Guidance Oracle cards I picked 'Medicine Woman' which made her a healer of medicine. After sometime, her mother came running to me and said, I do not believe in predictions and fortune tellers, but you are the third person who has told me that she will be a doctor. She said, once she was crossing the road and an old man came up to her and told her that he was a face reader and that her daughter would become a doctor. After a few years, she met a man who looked at her daughter's palms and said that she would be a doctor. So, she was so pleasantly surprised when I told her the same thing. God bless the young angel! And may she become the best doctor in the world.

Lessons Learnt:

1. Never be skeptical - I was unsure of putting up this stall as most of the people there were not into Tarot. Go against the tide, and believe that you can bring about a change in people's attitude. Just because people are skeptical about you, doesn't mean to start to doubt yourself. Try and you can change them or get them to see your point of view.

2. Children are angels - This experience reiterated this fact to me. More than the adults, children were drawn to my stall like moths to a flame. I also did a few free readings for them. :-)

3. Word of mouth - That is the best form of publicity. Spread the word, to whoever you can about your business. Do not underestimate or think that your clientele is only a particular section of the society.

4. Meeting new people - This always happens when you do something new, you meet new people. It is always better to experiment and go outside than sit at home. I also made a new friend, who had a stall besides me. She had a kurti stall but has also done a course in graphology. She read my hand writing and was very good!

5.  Encouragement - I got a lot of positive feedback about my readings which was very encouraging and has increased my confidence in myself and my reading abilities.Do not be afraid to try anything new, you will only grow as a person and learn new things.

6. Only see the positive, not the negative - Learn to grasp only the positive and ignore the negative aspects. If you keep thinking about the negative aspects, you will never move forward. You will stay stagnant and be where you are.

Here's to many more exhibitions and experiences in the future! Cheeeeeeeeeeerssss!

Card of the Day - April 17, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Revelations Tarot is the ''Death'' Card. The symbols in this card are very unique compared to the other RWS inspired decks. It shows a Hindu Goddess Kali dancing, along with other symbols of death like the skull, scythe and a black lotus. The card suggests that something bad is about to come to an end. This is an important time of change and transformation. Nothing lasts forever, change is the only thing that is permanent.

Card of the Day - April 16, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Revelations Tarot is the Queen of Swords (Rx). Upright, she is a very powerful woman, who looks like she commands attention with her sword. In the reversed position, she looks upset and has laid her sword aside. The green chair she sits on looks like its been stiched upon, as if shes tired of playing the same role. Her power is no longer effective upon anyone. It's just like a mother who shouts at her children. The more she shouts, the less her power becomes, because she reduces her value, and finally gets ignored by them. She is unable to have any control over her emotions and is in a mess. She has been unable to connect with her emotional side, and is now in the process of realizing this. Today could be a sensitive day. So there could be some issues in your personal life, you could cause hurt to a loved one or you could have to deal with some taunts or comments by someone.

April 14, 2012

Card of the Day - April 14, 2012

Today's Card of the day from the Revelations Tarot is ''The Star''. This card upright is a very positive card. It shows a beautiful maiden pouring liquid into a lake. Surrounding her are doves and stars. She has made her wish, and it will come true. She wishes to be free and happy like the birds, and has been wishing upon a star. Today, all your wishes will come true. Rely on your intuition today and do not hesitate to tell your heart's desire out aloud. You never know, they may come true. This card could also symbolize a person who cares a lot about you, giving you hope and assurance in times of need. Keep your hope alive even when the situation looks tough.

Card of the Day - April 13, 2012

Continuing from yesterday's Card which was the Two of Swords, today's Card is the Three of Swords. This is a pretty miserable card. It shows a man crying in the rain. He has suffered from heartache and disappointment. Today, you may get into an argument that will upset you, or someone you depend on, will not come through. There could also be some miscommunication and misunderstanding, causing some more grief. However upset you are, do not wallow in self-pity. Pull up your socks and try to take things with a pinch of salt. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Who Am I - I Am Spread

Queen of  Cups from  the Morgan
Greer Tarot deck.

Today, I thought of devising a new Tarot spread. That is actually unusual for me, as I devise spreads very very rarely.  I just saw a movie yesterday called 'I Am'. It was about four short stories, and at the end of each story, the central character found a sense of identity. I thought we could do this with Tarot, use it as a tool to find your identity. Picking the daily Card draws from the Revelations Tarot made me want to explore them even further, specially the Court Cards. Generally, we have 16 Court cards in all - 4 Pages, 4 Knights, 4 Queens and 4 Kings. In this Tarot deck, we have 32 Court card depictions which include the reversed interpretations. So, in order to have a balanced life, I thought that I need to have a bit of the qualities of all of these cards.

This is a very simple exercise. Remove only the Court cards and only use them for the purpose of this spread. You can use the Court cards of any deck, and if you do not read reversals, you could also avoid that. Here, I will be using the Revelations Tarot.

So, here goes, the Who Am I - I Am spread.

Whatever are the roles you play in your life, list them down. I listed - sister, daughter, wife, friend, mother  (though i am not a mother, my motherly qualities), human being, academic, tarot reader. So, let's see what cards I get for all these roles I play in my life. I have a feeling, this spread is one of those which is an eye opener. No one likes to see the bad aspects of themselves, and sometimes they feel guilty that they are not good mothers, but the cards could think otherwise. So, it's a good spread to answer the question about who you really are. Try and join one quality from each of the cards which attracts you and feel fits you, to form an image of yourself, which you feel reflects who you are. The most important thing in this spread is to be honest. You cannot play games with yourself. After picking a card, keep it back in the deck, so that it could be repeated, so you could get the Queen of Wands in even 3 aspects of your life.

Sister - Knight of Wands (Rx) - scattered energies

I may not be the best sister, I don't know how to focus my energies in the right direction. I need to work on that.

Daughter - Knight of Cups - giving

My relationship with my mother is great, and I give her lots of love and emotional support.

Wife - Page of Pentacles - dutiful

As I wife, I am a page, I become a child who is pampered. I am dutiful and do what is expected of me.

Friend - Queen of Wands - social

As a friend, I am social and friendly. With my friends, I am outgoing and expressive.

Mother - Knight of Pentacles (Rx) - stressed

As a mother, I will be stressed out LOL, this knight looks pretty upset. Maybe I will have to learn to destress myself, and save myself from getting hysterical!

Human being - Page of Swords - intelligent

I am analytical and intelligent, and a good judge of people.

Academic - Page of Cups - Study with my heart

I put in my heart and emotions when I study. If I'm emotionally attached to the subject, I study well.

Tarot reader - Queen of Cups (Rx) - mysterious

As a tarot reader, I am mysterious and secretive. The Queen of Cups(Rx) is overemotional. I should be less attached to my clients and less 'involved'.

Overall, I have a balance of Wands, Pentacles, Cups and Swords in my personality so it is well-balanced. On the other hand, I got the Knight three times suggesting a quality that I love to 'charge' at things and keep things moving. I have no King card showing that I am not the 'boss' or the 'ruler' in any of the roles in my life.
I found this a very interesting exercise of self analysis. Why don't you try it?

Card of the Day - April 12, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the Two of Swords (Rx). Both the upright and reversed versions of this card seem similar, there is a man on a tight rope balancing the tip of a sword on the palm of his hand. In the reversed position, the background shows an hurricane-like situation. He seems to be sucked in a whirlpool of monotony. Also, he has lost his confidence and seems to be falling off the rope and dropping the sword. You are struggling at your work, and doing things that are physically impossible. Do not strain yourself too much, it shows on your face and in your attitude towards other people. Are you being too grouchy today? Are you rude to someone nice just because you are stressed out? Maintain a good balance between your work and home.

Card of the Day - April 11, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the Four of Pentacles. This card shows a man who is greedily grabbing on to a couple of pentacles. He looks made of steel, almost inhuman and robot-like. He only sees money and nothing else. Even behind him there are gold coins, and the entire card is golden in colour, showing even his thoughts are about money, gold and accumulating wealth. Money is an important part of our lives but we shouldn't let it rule us, impair our judgements and change our true nature. Is money making you act crazy today? Are you being biased to someone who has money and power or treating badly a poorer friend. Unintentionally, we may hurt people because of our high and mighty ways. Learn to share your money with others and be generous with it. Do not be stingy with your money, splurge a bit.

April 10, 2012

Card of the Day - April 10, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is The Devil (Rx). Upright this card shows an evil looking man, the devil who has trapped a woman and a man in a hell-like place. They are surrounded by money but can't use it. In the reversed position, it shows a complete obsession with wealth and physical pleasures. Beware of a person who may enter your life and tempt you or make you a victim of his selfishness. He will be infactuating, just like evil always is, but remember that it is only superficial. Today, you could bring out the worse in yourself - anger, greed and frustration. Money earned from illegal means will be lost or destroyed.

April 09, 2012

Card of the Day - April 9, 2012

Today's Card is ''The World'' (Rx) from the Revelations Tarot. Upright, this card is the best card in the deck, but reversed it shows some issues we may have today which will create some blocks. There will be some hurdles in your journey, and some delays. Your goal is tempting and seems near, but that doesn't mean it's going to come easy, you need to work hard for it. Expect delays and unexpected problems to arise even in the final stages. You will be nearing completion, but just short of being finished.

April 08, 2012

Card of the Day - April 8, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the 4 of Swords. It is a day of rest, contemplation and relaxation. It makes sense, as today is a Sunday and after a hectic week this man in the card looks cozied up in a blanket. He is not fully asleep, but deep in thought. The colours of the card are blue and green, colours of calmness and coolness. Today, you can make some good decisions by being by yourself.

April 07, 2012

Card of the Day - April 7, 2012

Today's Card is the King of Wands (Rx). How interesting we should get this card, as it only applifies yesterday's Knight of Wands (Rx) card, energies splattered in the wrong direction. Instead of being the charming and the radiant king, this is the flirtatious and the selfish king. He is a manipulator and lives for himself. Today, you could be living selfishly, and for yourself. Be aware of those around you. Are you neglecting or taking them for granted? Are you being too attention craving? Are you being the one who wants to have the maximum 'likes' and 'comments' on Facebook at any cost? :-P If you are a boss, are you being too hard on your employees? Also, beware of falling in love with such a person, who appears to be interested in you, with his charming and flirtatious ways, but is only using you for his pleasure or to boost his ego. There is a big dragon's eye behind the king suggesting that he doesn't trust anyone, and the naked women reveal what is really going on in his mind. He is not what he appears to be.

April 06, 2012

Card of the Day - April 6, 2012

Today's Card is the Knight of Wands (Rx). He rides a dragon in this card, and upright he represents positive energy. When he is reversed, he represents energy, but scattered in all directions. He has no focus. The dragon seems to be going away from the knight and is not in sync with him. He is unsure of what to do, and seems lost in his purpose. Are you lost today? Have you lost your focus? Try to analyze and re-gain your focus and find your way.

April 05, 2012

Card of the Day - April 5, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the Nine of Cups (Rx). Upright is shows a man surrounded by fishes swimming around him, but in the reversed position, instead of fishes, there are eels. I think this card means 'drinking like a fish', suggesting alcoholism, something which came up a couple of days ago with the Three of Cups (Rx). So be aware of the addictions that you seem to fall prey to. The background of this card is made up of blues and purples suggesting the intoxication of alcohol and power. This is also a card of complacency. The man in the reversed position seems very proud and thinks that he is a genius, but never be complacent and do not take whatever you have for granted. What you have may not last forever.

IPL PREDICTIONS 2012

It's time for the Indian Premier League (IPL) once again! This time, we again have 9 teams who will be battling out. Lets ask the Tarot how the teams will perform in general. I will pick one card for each IPL Team. What will each team offer us this season? Will they create records, or will they disappoint us?

1. Chennai Super Kings

The card representing them is the Knight of Wands. They have fire and passion and will bat really well. They will make high totals and win most of the matches. The background of this card is yellow, the colour of the Super Kings jersey. I think the Knight of Wands here represents our captain MS Dhoni.

2. Mumbai Indians

The card I picked for MI is the 10 of Pentacles. This is a great card of teamwork and unity. They will have a great joint effort and will earn a lot of money, probably through endorsements. The owners will be in profit no matter how the team performs. They will do very well as a team. The old man in the card could represent Sachin Tendulkar, who is very respected in this side. He is the solid foundation on which they stand.

3. Kolkata Knight Riders

Temperance is the card of balance. They will do just about okay. They will be good at bowling and fielding and will be able to make good decisions. They will be able to maintain a good balance and will be cool and calm. They will be missing that fire and aggression.

4. Delhi Daredevils

The 9 of Wands is not a great card to come by. Though I think that Wands, in this case could show a good batting line up, I think a key player could be injured in this side, causing some trouble. But they will still have it in them to fight till the end.

5. Pune Warriors

The Pune Warriors, just like their name, have got the fighting or warrior card, the 5 of Wands. Again, a Wands card, which shows that there will be a lot of batting, hitting and lots of runs scored this IPL. They will bat very well and aggressively hit 4s and 6s.

6. Rajasthan Royals

The card which has come up for them is the 8 of Cups. They will be emotionally hurt in the tournament due to some rules, and non- cricket reasons causing some controversies. These players are very hardcore party animals. It could be, that their habits could affect their game. They need to be more focused.

7. Kings XI Punjab

The card which has come up is The Hermit. What an unexpected spiritual card! They have the right guidance and a very good coach and guide, maybe Preity Zinta who will encourage them positively. They have analyzed and strategized very well and are well prepared. They could surprise us all.

8. Royal Challengers Bangalore

The card they have is the 4 of Swords. They are playing for their pride. After the Kingfisher fiasco, I'm sure the Mallyas have a point to prove. They will play very coolly and surprise us in the end. Right now they are resting and preparing. They are not publicizing themselves much, but are preparing in quiet.

9. Deccan Chargers

The card come up for them is The Magician. They have a very magical player in their team who is an all-rounder and is good with the bat and the ball. He will weave his magic and win matches for them!

So, wear your jerseys, your caps and get ready for the IPL! Blow your whistles and wave your flags!

Stay tuned for IPL predictions for the important matches!!

Card of the Day - April 4, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Revelations Tarot is the Three of Cups (Rx). The card shows a man who has drunk too much. Upright this card shows three people dancing and drinking with joy. Reversed, it shows an overindulgence and an overdoing of drinking and partying. This card can be associated with gluttony and sloth. Consumption of excessive liquids and bad habits could lead to health issues and indigestion. This card could also mean that you have been overdoing things - neglecting your home by going to too many parties, indulging in distracting gossip, lack of seriousness in the office, no peace of mind. The happy emotions end with the littering of bottles showing too much celebration. The merman is unable to even keep his eyes open. Since the IPL begins today in India, this card is an indication of the daily distractions and the office bunking in store for us over the next couple of months. :-)

Card of the Day - April 3, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the Nine of Pentacles. The card shows a woman sitting in the lap of luxury. She is doing what she loves and is content with life. Today, you too are going to be satisfied like her. You could be doing what you enjoy - studying, baking a cake, cleaning a drawer, sleeping, reading a book, watching a movie or just sitting by yourself, with your thoughts. You have been needing this break for a very long time. Finally, you will do something for yourself and get some much needed space. You need not work today, it is a mid-week holiday sort of day. The bird that is perched on her arm represents freedom from responsibilities. The light tones in the card are the colours of Virgo.

April 02, 2012

Card of the Day - April 2, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Revelations Tarot is The Chariot (Rx). The image in the card is a frustrated looking man who has lost control. The two snakes who are meant to guide his chariot have gone out of hand and are attacking each other. He is crazily obsessed with rage and is abusing his position and power. He will now stop at nothing to get to the finish line. Today, you need to control yourself. Don't go crazy or get too angry or frustrated. You may not realize it, but your ambitious nature could hurt those around you. Also beware of addictions like drugs and alcohol. Do not compromise your ethics, morality or integrity for the sake of profit or ambition. You may be victorious in the end, but at the cost of your morals.

Revelations Tarot - An Exploration of Reversals

It's the beginning of a new month and this month I will be exploring my new deck, the Revelations Tarot by Zach Wong. I have been intrigued by Reversals, but always thought them to be unnecessary in a way. If the cards were meant to be read reversed, there would be differences in the pictures, and some more detailed explanations as to why and how. The Revelations Tarot was created just for this reason - to bring sense into Reversals, and to make Reversal learning easy for skeptics like me. These cards are 'meant' to be read in Reversal. Whether after this month, I start reading Reversals or not in my daily practice, I don't know, but I'm surely going to learn a lot. What is special about these cards, is that Wong has created separate images for the Reversed versions of the cards! So, in total, we have 78 x 2 = 156 different images.
By the way, I love the back side of these cards, they're a lovely purple with an abstract design, where you can't make out if the card is reversed or straight up.
(The short form for Reversals/Reversed cards is Rx which will be used frequently)

Let's proceed to today's Card of the Day using the Revelations Tarot deck which is the Two of Pentacles.

Today, is a day of balance and handling money matters. This makes sense, as in India we have the Banks Closing Day, which was yesterday, so I'm sure many bankers and chartered accountants are deeply busy in handling financial matters. You will be busy today, juggling many commitments. This is also true in my case, as I have 'two' tarot appointments, and also have another commitment in the evening where I have to juggle off to! But as the card says, you will be able to handle things very well, and have a successful conclusion to events.
