Fairies

We all have heard of fairies. They have been associated with a number of things, and people think differently about them, based on what they hear. I first started believing in fairies a long time ago, when I was a child. I read a number of Enid Blyton books, and they always had fairies, pixies, elves, gnomes and garden trolls as protagonists. In these stories, often children would be able to have adventures with these pretty creatures while the boring adults would be fast asleep. What fun! I really started feeling that these fairies exist. I am a believer, so I believe in everything. There is no smoke without fire, and I like to believe that there is some amount of truth in everything that someone or the other believes. Anyways, along with Blyton's books there are many fairy-tales that we listened to and read as a child. Stories included fairy godmothers, witches, magic wands, potions and creatures of Never-never Land. To some extent, there has to be some amount of truth to these stories.

About a few years ago, I was introduced to the world of Doreen Virtue's books. She wrote a number of books about spirituality. I remember the first book I was attracted to was called ''Healing with the Fairies''. It was a story about how she saw fairies in her garden and they helped her find her soul mate, Steven Farmer. It is amazing, that in 'real' life we are hearing about fairies being seen in gardens. She says a number of things about fairies in her books. These fairies are found in gardens, in and around plants, trees, greenery and nature. They are fond of gardeners and those who love the environment. If you call upon them, they can help your garden bloom beautifully. Where ever you see mushrooms (which are their houses!) they are sure to be around there somewhere. So who are fairies? They are nature angels who are always ready to help you. In an interview with Doreen Virtue taken from another website www.healyourlife.com, she answers basic questions and myths about fairies.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.  Are fairies mischievous pranksters?
A.  Fairies, like all humans and other Earth-dwellers have egos. That means that they don’t automatically love everyone unconditionally as the egoless angels do. Fairies are very loving beings, but they favor people who treat the environment and animals kindly.
Since fairies play tricks on those who mistreat nature or animals, they’ve earned a reputation for mischief. Fairies also love parties, playfulness, dancing, and music. As these behaviors have been frowned upon at various times in our societal and religious history, these beings have also been denigrated.
Q.  Are fairies real, or are they mythical?
A.  Fairies are as real as you and me. They’re as real as angels. Yet, only people who believe, are open-minded, or have a pure heart can sense or see them. Fairies are very shy and sensitive beings who hide from harsh environments or people. So those who are prone to skepticism can’t see or feel the fairies.
Cultures also have an influence on people’s acceptance of the fairies. In the United Kingdom (especially Ireland and Scotland), Australia, Polynesia, and other countries, there’s a widespread belief in fairies and elementals. The countries that treat nature and animals with the most respect also tend to have the highest belief in fairies.
Q.  Where can I find fairies?
A.  Fairies live wherever there are plants or animals. They live near houseplants and pets. However, they’re especially fond of the wilderness. They don’t like pesticides or tightly manicured gardens.
Q.  A psychic told me that she saw fairies around me. What does that mean?
A.  Some people have fairies as spirit guides. Fairies stay with people who have a life purpose involving environmentalism or animals. You can ask the fairies for guidance about how to help the earth. In addition, fairies help us lighten up and be playful.
Q.  Are fairies fallen angels?
A.  God made fairies as the angels of nature. They’re beings of pure, Divine light and love with an important mission of healing and protecting the environment and animals. Like humans, fairies have egos. So they’re not unconditionally loving like the celestial angels. However, fairies are kind and fair.
Q.  Can you trust fairies? Do they ever harm people?
A.  You earn the fairies’ respect by extending kindness toward Mother Nature. Recycling, using Earth-friendly cleaning supplies (available at any health food store), and donating to environmental causes are just a few of the behaviors that fairies look for in their potential human friends. Once you earn the fairies’ respect, they’ll do anything for you.
Fairies don’t harm people, but they can play tricks on those whom they view as cruel toward animals or the environment. Sometimes they play mild practical jokes (like temporarily hiding things) on people they love as a way of being playful.
Q.  Can fairies become human, or vice versa?
A.  Some people who look like fairies, gnomes, leprechauns, mermaids, and pixies are elemental souls who’ve elected to have human lives so that they can help the environment and animals in a big way. I’ve written about this topic in my books Healing with the Fairies,  Earth Angels, and Goddesses & Angels.
Q.  Is it true that fairies or leprechauns can bring you a pot of gold?
A.  Many people report that the elementals help them with finances. While the fairies and leprechauns usually don’t bring literal pots of gold, they do bestow good fortune upon those humans whom they favor. This is one of many reasons to make friends with the fairies.

To celebrate the month of July as Fairy month, I will be removing the Daily Card of the Day from my 'Healing with the Fairies Oracle cards' and 'The Fairy Tale Tarot'. Fairies always encourage you to have fun, and they often play games at night when no one is watching! They love to sing, dance and party! They love the environment and encourage you to play outdoors and spend more time with flowers and their butterfly and dragonfly companions. Read out fairy stories to your children and make them believers!

Card of the Day - June 30, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Ascended Masters Oracle Cards is 'Priorities' and the Ascended Master associated with this card is King Solomon. Solomon was a very wise king, so he is there with us today, to help us make wise decisions and settle our lives. Often, we are confused, as we have so many things to do that we feel we don't have enough time. Today ask yourself, ''What are my priorities?'' Is there some activity you do that wastes your time and is unnecessary? Are you playing too much Temple Run when you should be completing a deadline? Are you watching too much television instead of completing a project. You should have fun in your life, but when that interferes with an important priority, then you need to know when to draw the line. Do you have a friend who complains constantly about her problems or gossips about everybody? Is she wasting your time and energy? Use your time wisely, as it is precious. Health should be the most important priority for everybody. If you are not well, do not over work yourself. Cancel your appointments and call in sick at work and give your body the much needed rest it needs.

Card of the Day - June 26, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is from the Ascended Masters Oracle Deck. I asked for a message that we all need to hear right now from the various Gods and Goddesses present in these beautiful gilded 44 cards and I picked Paul the Venetian and the message is 'Artistic Expression'. We all feel the need to express ourselves, if we are unexpressed (like I was since a week!) you tend to feel dull and lifeless. The energy just isn't enough to sustain you. It is important to express yourself everyday, in some form or the other either through song, dance, writing, painting, cooking or gardening. Being artistic is a facet of everybody's nature, and without it being tapped, you always feel that something is missing. So, today take out the time to express yourself in artistic ways. If you have any difficulty doing this, call upon Paul the Venetian and he will help you.

Celebrate the Sunrise

This is a part of the Litha Tarot Blog Hop. You can click HERE for a Master list of all the bloggers who have participated in this Blog Hop. You may have come here from Koneta's blog

We all live in different time zones and belong to different cultures. I live in India and am a Hindu by birth, and I have an interest in Tarot, angels, crystals, numerology and astrology. I really have no idea of the traditions of Wicca or paganism. So, I don't want to be untrue to myself and speak about 'Summer' when we celebrate 'Monsoon' here in India. Our summer starts in May. Also, I don't know about Litha nor about the other Wiccan holidays. I'm going to be wrangler for the next Blog Hop so be sure it's going to be a non-pagan thingy. I think the whole idea of the Blog hop is so that different people can come together with different views and ideas. So, I would love to share something about my culture and tradition. So, today I'm going to write about some Hindu traditions related to the sun and sunrise.

We worship the sun, and we have many Gods in our culture, and one of them is the Sun. I think pagans too worship the sun, since they worship Nature, and the sun is the most natural thing in the world! So did the Egyptians (Ra the Sun God comes to mind). There is this ritual that my father-in-law does every morning. After a bath, he pours a jug of water out of the window in the direction of the Sun, the east. This is an ancient Hindu tradition of greeting the sun in the morning. This is how they celebrate the sunrise.

Another way to celebrate the sunrise was taught to me by my yoga instructor - The Surya Namaskar. It is the most beautiful exercise, and if you even do 10 of these in a day, you will be fit for life. Many celebrities do this yoga asana religiously and some even do up to 100 of them a day. It's an ancient method of crunches. It is a great exercise as it teaches meditation, flexibility, balance, posture, and even gets your body toned. I dedicate this blog to the Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation. I hope you will try it and include it in your daily workout. It has a number of health benefits. Not only does it help in rapid weight loss, it improves the circulation of the entire body and supplies oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. It also activates the glands and the nervous system. So, not only will you become thin and sexy, but also have a beautiful glow on your face.

There are 12 postures in this exercise:

1. Stand facing the Sun with palms folded and both thumbs touching the chest.
Breathing: Inhale while raising the hands and exhale as hands are brought down to the chest level.

2. Raise hands upward, with feet firmly on the ground, bend backwards , stretch arms fully.
Breathing: Inhale

3. Slowly bend forward, hands touching the earth with respect, head touching the knees.
Breathing: Exhale

4. Set both hands with your palms down firmly on the ground, pull your left leg backward, raise your head looking at the Sun, full weight resting on the two palms and ten fingers.
Breathing: Inhale

5. Bring right leg close to the left leg , keeping hands and legs straight, bend the body at the hip, forming an arch just like a mountain. This is called the 'mountain pose'.
Breathing: Exhale

6. Stretch yourself fully on the ground in the Saashthanga Namaskar pose (all eight parts of the body on the ground-head, thigh, eyes, mind, word, feet, knees, chest, hands and ears). Slowly turn your head to the sides, first to the left and then the right so each ear touches the ground.
Breathing: Inhale first and then Exhale fully.

7. Slowly raise the head, bend backward as much as possible, hands straight in the cobra pose.
Breathing: Inhale

8. Mountain pose – same as Step 5.
Breathing: Exhale

9. Sme as Step 4 but this time put the right leg forward
Breathing: Inhale

10. Same as Step 3
Breathing: Exhale

11. Same as Step 2
Breathing: Inhale

12. Same as Step 1
Breathing: Exhale, Inhale and Exhale

Please note: Do this on an empty stomach, so mornings would be the best. Even better if you can do it outdoors on a yoga mat. Happy Surya Namaskar-ing!

I hope you enjoyed this blog! And I'm sure you'll enjoy Marilyn Shannon's blog as well! Hop on!

Card of the Day - June 19, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is the Three of Swords. After the Page, King, and the Eight of Swords, we have another Swords card coming up today! This card generally seems very negative and gloomy. It traditionally represents break ups, disappointments and a stab in the back. But let us look at the positive side of this card. What positive aspects of this card can you see? For me, at least the heart is still whole, it just has cuts but wounds can be healed with time. There are gloomy clouds, but with clouds comes rain, and then everything is fresh and green again, and we can look at things from a newer perspective.

Card of the Day - June 18, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is the Eight of Swords. This card shows a woman who is wrapped with a cloth, and surrounded by swords in the middle of the ocean. Even her eyes are blind folded. She can not see what is happening around her, so she must be full of fear from within. Questions must be going on in her head: Why can't I see? Where am I? I feel trapped!! I can't move! In your life right now, things may not be that  bad. The situation is only as bad as we think it is. Do not exaggerate your problems or complain about them. They only appear to be larger than they really are. Look at the situation from a different angle. There is definitely a silver lining somewhere. Look for the positive among the negative and count your blessings. Because what you take for granted could be envied by many others.

Card of the Day - June 16, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is the Page of Swords. This card is an extension of the card which came up yesterday which was also a Court Swords card. This man is a younger version of the King of Swords. So he doesn't have the experience, but young ideas. Today, you could get a wonderful idea from a young child, or a lovely piece of advice from a 5 year old. You never know where you could get ideas from as they float in the air. You could be thinking about some new ideas yourself, which have just started forming in your head. If you put your thoughts into action, you will go a long way. But if your ideas will just stay in your head, they will fade away and will make you regret not going through with them in the future.

Card of the Day - June 15, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the King of Swords. This card shows a king, who is stern surrounded by green foliage. These leaves have small fruits, which are like seeds. They represent the beginning of something new, and the development of new ideas. You could get an intelligent idea today which could be unique and amazing. Be like the King of Swords today, and speak up about your ideas. You could also be deeply engrossed in studying something of great importance, and could be researching something life changing. Since the world has been changing so much, with new discoveries coming up everyday because of this new Aquarian Age, it us not unnatural that we all have a bit of a scientist within us and are a bit like Sheldon Cooper- a bit cooky and genius. Bring out the scientist within you and start looking at things from a different point of view.

You need to wait, in order to get your dues. Only when the time is right, do things materialize. You have lessons to learn, and these are individual lessons which you need to learn by yourself. You will receive success if you continue along this path and follow your heart.

Card of the Day - June 11, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the Queen of Pentacles. This lady, sits in the lap of luxury, holding a big gold coin in her hand. She wears a beautiful gold crown and has autumn leaves surrounding her. Her life is full of bounty, luxury and plenty. She has no wants and needs as she has everything, and is content. Today, you too will be in this content state of satisfaction. You will be very happy and secured in your life, as you can see a stable future now. Think about your future, and be a visionary. You will be able to think of great ideas to better your finances. Save for the future for your next generation and for your old age.

Card of the Day - June 9, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is yet another Major card, The Empress. The Empress represents the eternal mother. She is the goddess of fertility and creativity. She possesses interesting symbols in this card like the moon (intuition, pomegranate (fertility), lotus (purity) heart (love) shield (protection) cross (balance) and wheat (growth and fertility). She sits besides a waterfall, which is different from other decks, where she sits in a field. This reminds me of something I learnt in school : cities crop us where there is water. So where the Empress sits, is a fertile land because of the waterfall. There are also trees, plains and gardens in the background, all flourishing because of her nurturing qualities of a mother. Today, we need to be like her. Be loving, caring, nurturing. Someone out there could need our help, could be your husband or a friend - maybe just a shoulder to cry on or a motherly advice. We all have a mother within us (even if we are a man). She is the gardener, and is like the goddess of the Earth, Gaia.

Card of the Day - June 8, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is Temperance. This has been an interestying few days as I have been pulling out Major Arcana cards like: The Hermit, The Sun, The Fool and now Temperance. This is an eventful week, with important lessons to learn, these are testing times. Today's card has one key word: Balance. How are you balancing things in your life? Are your projects working out on time? Are you taking care of your health? Are you looking after your home? Are you giving yourself a break? This card says that you have been balancing all aspects of your life very well. You may feel that your life is a chaotic mess, but everything is working out smoothly. You need not worry if you will be able to complete all your tasks, as you keep one foot in, and one foot out. You may not feel completely immersed in your task, but you need not be. You can handle all aspects of your life beautifully, and you deserve credit for it.

Card of the Day - June 7, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is The Fool. Today, live like a fool. Do what you feel like, and go with your gut instinct. Today will be a very unplanned day, and unexpected things might happen. Do not fret, as you are supposed to go with the flow. Take each moment as it comes. Follow your heart and do what feels natural. Be like a backpacker loitering in a strange country with his luggage, his maps and his intuition. Enjoy the lessons you learn in the process, as you will use them later in life. In your innocence and naivety, do not fight with anyone, as the Fool carries the white rose of peace and purity. Be like an innocent flower, and soak up the wisdom you gather on your journey.

Card of the Day - June 6, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is the 6 of Wands! Today is also the 6th day of the 6th month of the year, June! A lot of six's happening today! This is a card of victory and celebration. The man in the card, rides his horse as he parades around the place holding a victory wreath of celebration. He wears a gold helmet showing that he has worked hard to reach where he is and deserves the victory, it is not a fluke or just luck. Hard work reaps rewards and celebrations are justified. Do not hesitate to treat yourself to something nice today, as you deserve it after all the efforts you have put in.

Card of the Day - June 5, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is the 9 of Cups. The card shows a plump man, sitting comfortably with nine cups displayed in the background. Today, is a day of luxury and relaxation. You could treat yourself to something luxurious and pamper yourself. You could go for a body massage, a facial, a pedicure or to a relaxing spa. You may also be feeling a bit proud and vain today, where you feel that you are always right. There could be some ego clashes today, as everyone is in a lazy mood today. Relax, and don't stress out today. Give yourself a break and do something good for yourself. This card also indicates eating and drinking merrily, so you could have some friends over, or a get together, or even ordering a pizza or a chocolate cake for you to indulge.

Card of the Day - June 4, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer deck is The Hermit .This is a very interesting card to come by today, as I have just started on Marcus Katz's 'Around the Tarot in 78 Days online course'  today. The Hermit is a card of knowledge gained, and then shared. Hopefully, I will learn a great deal in this class, which will indirectly translate into more insightful tarot readings, as I will be re-learning the cards from a different perspective. Today, ask yourself what lessons do you need to learn? You need to look within yourself and be your own teacher. Be strict with yourself and speak to yourself. Even lecture yourself on what you need to get done: clean your cupboard, go to the dentist, study for an exam or do whatever it is you have been procrastinating. You do not need a parent to tell you what to do, you can be your own teacher and guide. Look for the light of inspiration, it is within you.

Card of the Day - June 3, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer deck is The Sun. This card is very positive, which can be seen from the bright colours: shades of orange and yellow. This card is a reminder that it is indeed hot! It is summer time, the time of summery sports, singlets, swimming pools and cold drinks. These are fun times, as it is also vacation time. Today, is also 'Sunday' the day of the sun. Today, is a day of happiness and summery fun. You will spend time with your near and dear ones, your family or friends. Any time you feel low or depressed, look at the sun and absorb it's energy. It is the most powerful and energetic source of light and heat, and can liven up even the gloomiest individual. Today, spend time outdoors rather than sitting cooped up indoors.

June 02, 2012

Card of the Day - June 2, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Morgan Greer Tarot is the 7 of Pentacles. Today, the key word for you is Patience. You may have worked very hard at something, but somehow you are not getting the desired results. Instead of fuming, getting frustrated and getting hyper, the best thing to do is to wait patiently. Things will unfold when they have to, not when you want them to. Great things take time, and when the time is ripe, then only will things move ahead. Try distracting yourself with other things, like helping other people or taking up a hobby while you are waiting. Do not give up or lose hope, because your hard work will not go unrewarded.

Card of the Day - June 1, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is from the Morgan Greer Tarot, and we'll be using this deck for the month of June. The card that i picked today is the Ace of Rods. What a positive card for the first day of June, the first card of the fiery suit of Wands. Today, go for it! Be positive! Fulfill your dreams! Begin a new project! It is a new beginning for you in your life. You could be embarking on a new job, a new venture, a new relationship or getting some new innovative ideas. Things are at the beginning stages, so they may seem a bit cloudy, but nevertheless, you need to push ahead and get things done.
