Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes Tarot is the 9 of Pentacles. This is a wonderful card to come in a reading and signifies good times, luxury and happy times. Card of the Day - Feb 26, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes Tarot deck is the Five of Wands. This card shows many foxes fighting over a rabbit who seems to have escaped or run away. The hare has run away from the foxes and it represents energy. Are you feeling very energetic today and are you feeling wild and free? You have challenges and obstacles in your life, but you have it in you to overcome them.You have unknown strengths that are drawn forth when you are faced with difficulties. So who do you feel like today? Do you feel like the fox who is charging ahead or are you like the rabbit who has narrowly escaped a tragedy? Either way, today is a day of contemplation. Who are you and what is your role? 

The Leap Year Spread

This year 2012 is a Leap Year!! This means that this year will have a Feb 29th, which comes one in every four years. This has to mean something, right? An extra day? But what does this day signify? What is its importance? Did you know that in the British Isles there is a tradition that women can only propose to men in a leap year? LOL..I'm sure that there are many such traditions and many more crazy things that people do on a Leap year. Feb 29 is also supposed to be Superman's birthday!

 I think that the Tarot can be used to form a personal benchmark for you to measure your progress in your life, specially your goals. For this, I have devised a Leap Year spread. I would like to do this spread once in every 4 years to check where I am and where I will be in the next four years from the year 2012 to 2015.
For this spread I will be using two decks, a tarot deck and an angel oracle deck: The Legacy of the Divine Tarot and the Archangels Oracle cards deck.

Where I am in 2012

For this year i got the Ace of Wands card. This card stands for new beginnings which is true as I start my PhD this year and it is supposed to be completed in 4-5 years. What a great leap year for me! A wonderful new beginning is in store characterized by the fiery dragon-y passion. The wand in the card is studded with different coloured crystals which I think means that I will be looking at things from a different point of view. The Angel card I got is Spiritual understanding. This is also a year where I deepen my Spiritual beliefs and learn more about esoteric wisdom and gain more knowledge about my spiritual practices. I could also learn a new practice or go deeper into what I am currently doing. The path of spirituality is intriguing. There is so much to explore. I can't wait!

Where I am in 2013

Money, honey! This year I got the 6 of Pentacles. This year I will be raking in the moolah as the card says. I will be receicing money for my hard work. This looks like the monthly amount I will be receiving due to my PhD scholarship. Its great to know that its going to be coming the next year too. Also, this could mean there is an increase in my Tarot clientele or a new business. There is a 'Hello from Heaven' card I see as well next year. I will be remembered by some of my lost family and friends in heaven. I love getting messages in my dreams from the beyond. Lately, I have been getting some pretty profound dreams, and hope they continue helping me and giving me good advice.

Where I am in 2014

The card for this year is the Page of Wands. He is generally a young person who is into communication. That will be me in the year 2014.I will be head on into my thesis writing every single day with a wand, umm pen in my hand, a tool of communication. The Page looks focused, serious, and he knows what he wants and what to write. I feel so inspired that I will be able to really write well that year. Yay.. The other card that has come up is Leadership. I will learn to be in control and will assume my role of a leader. I will be in the position to lead a group of people. Circumstances could lead me to do that. Lets see what the future holds....

Where I am in 2015

This is a great card.. the Magician! Along with the wand of the Page last year, this year I also have the Cup, Sword and Pentacle to help me. Along with my mighty tools I will be able to weave my magic. This year I will be sure of my talents and my abilities. The Magician is usually capable of accomplishing anything he puts his mind to. This year I will be highly focused and accomplish my goals. I think this could indicate that my Phd is getting completed and that I am nearing my deadline. The other card compliments this card, it says 'Outdoors'. These days, I will probably be cooped up in my house and in the library. I will need to go outside for some fresh air in order to get more creative ideas.

Where I am in Leap Year 2016

Well, we are finally here, the Leap year 2016! The card I received is the Emperor. What an apt card, it is the Number 4 card of the Major Arcana trumps! All is now four-square. Emperor is the card of stability and authority. This could suggest that I will be in a position of authority and will probably be in a position of leadership. The Angel card says 'Divine Order'. Everything is going on smoothly in divine timing. Amidst the chaos there is underlying order.

The Leap Year Card: What lessons have I learnt in these 4 years?

The card I received for the lesson that I have learnt during leap year 2012 to leap year 2016 is the 9 of Pentacles. What a beautiful card! I love her. She looks so happy and contented doing what she loves. She is financially secure as well as happily strolling in her garden with the birds and the bees. She has no worries as she is content with her life. The lesson I feel that I have learnt in these 4 years will be to be independent, just like the woman in the card. She is matured, as I will hopefully be in the next four years LOL and self-secured. She looks like a woman of substance who is well settled and happy to be where she is.

I completely enjoyed doing this spread. It has given me a lot to think about and a lot to look forward to! I will save this page and look back at it after 4 years to check on it, and if I have truly understood the meanings of the various lessons learnt on the way. I suggest you try this Leap Year Spread. It gives a different perspective on your future and what to expect!

Card of the Day -Feb 23, 2012

Today's Card of the Day is the 10 of Swords. This is considered to be the worst card in the pack, but before we jump to conclusions, let us try to look at the positive side of the card. What I see is that in this deck, the Shadowscapes tarot, the card doesn't look as grim as in the Rider Waite deck. Usually the card shows a man being stabbed by 10 swords lying on the floor almost dead. This card shows a woman flying in the air tied to 10 swans. Her arms and feet are tied to a large cloth which is taking her somewhere, to the unknown. It seems that she has jumped from top of a tree.The birds have become vicious; they can tear her to pieces and tear her cloth as well. They are not out to help her, and fly their own way. Circumstances have caused this girl to have a spiraling plunge. When we give up hope, this is how we feel - like there is nothing good in our life. Sometimes we need to pick up the broken pieces when we come to a halt and learn from our mistakes. Look at the positive side of your life. Do not give up hope. Never ever.

Card of the Day - Feb 22, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes Tarot deck is the Knight of Swords. Today, it is likely that unexpected things may happen with you. There may be sudden plans and you may have to do make sudden decisions. Today will past by swiftly in the blink of an eye. Young ladies could meet an interesting man today. He will be like a brave hero who can defend his beliefs. He is blunt, honest and loyal. He is not emotional, but is fearless and usually victorious. In the card, the knight rides along with the birds and he is the King of the Birds. Together they are like a sear across the heavens. A storm is created wherever he goes, and he fights the chaos. He has all the qualities of the birds - the keen sight of the hawk, swiftness of the sparrow, insight of the raven, grace of a swan and the wisdom of an owl. Today, you could develop all these qualities within yourself.

Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes Tarot is a wonderful card to come by, its the Magician! This card represents that you have it in you to accomplish whatever you want. Do not worry about your talents or your abilities. You are super talented and great at what ever you do. The traditional RWS tarot deck shows the Magician having a cup, wand, sword and pentacle on his table showing that he has all the elements at his disposal. He is the Fool who has now opened his knapsack. In this card, the Magician has hanging on his wing some interesting tools such as a lantern representing fire, a black feather representing air, a shell for the water element and a branch of a tree which is the earth element. Between the palms of his hands, the Magician is conjuring up some sort of magic. He knows what hes doing and can multitask. He is barefoot showing that he is humble and grounded, and is open to learning new things. You have the gift, so use it wisely.

Today's Card of the Day is the Five of Cups from the Shadowscapes Tarot. The card shows a lady who seems a bit sad, holding a goldfish bowl in her hand. There are many fairies around her to console her. There are some other fishbowls which have toppled over behind her but she has one left, which she needs to look after. DO NOT LOSE HOPE. You have the needed support from your family and friends to get up once again and face the world. All is not lost. Move on as tomorrow is a new day. Make the most of the situation and cheer up. Hold on to whatever is left, and do not let go. 

Card of the Day - Feb 19, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes Tarot is the Four of Wands. This is a relatively positive and energetic card compared to the Swords cards we have been getting since the past few days. After a time of introspection and thought, comes a time of success and results. You are finally able to translate whats in your mind, onto the plate. Your thoughts are getting formed in the physical world now and you are absolutely ready. This card has vibrant colours like yellow and orange representing happy and sunny days. This card shows four stags galloping gaily into the sun guided by spirits and fairies. They bring with them roses and other flowers of spring. In India here spring time has almost begun with the arrival of the festival of Mahashivratri, tomorrow and the official first day of spring i.e. Holi on March 8. Be prepared for joyful days and have a positive day today.

Card of the Day - Feb 18, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes Tarot is the Eight of Swords.This is the third consecutive day where we have a Swords card. Earlier, on Feb 16th we had the Five of Swords and on Feb 17th we had the Three of Swords. So being in a Swords state of mind means that we are looking at this practically, analytically and also intellectually these days. We are not able to remove time for our personal life and it is difficult to arrange for meetings and make it for social gatherings. Today's card particularly, the Eight of Swordsshows a beautiful white swan trapped among swords. She feels that she has no hope, and no place to go. Do not worry. Your worries are just, well, worries. In truth, things are not as bad as you think them to be. The task at hand is not that tough, and the road to success is not that difficult. You are being too critical and too hard on yourself. Look above you, at the humming bird. She is so tiny, but is so positive in her outlook. She feels free and happy even though she is smaller than you. Look at life like a game, not like a challenge which will burden you.

Card of the Day - Feb 17, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes Tarot is the Three of Swords. This is a card of disappointment and sadness. There are also positive lessons to learn from this card. Start afresh. Do not lose hope. Try again. This card shows a white swan who is stabbed by three swords and appears to be in pain. It is a really sad picture, though it is beautifully painted by Stephanie. The background shows a red heart on a wall, with blood stains. The blood stains represent, I feel the memories of the hurt and pain, which will always be with us. A stain can never be fully removed, it is always there as a reminder of the betrayal or the disillusionment. Use these memories to encourage you to a better future. Every time you will be reminded of this pain, you will become stronger and more focused. Also, do not dwelve on the past too much. Use this experience as a chance to move on and become a stronger person. 

Oscar Predictions with the Tarot

It's that time of the year again, when it is the Oscars, the most awaited and glamorous event of the year! Starting from the nominations and the controversies to the red carpet glittering with the best of the best celebrities, every moment connected with this prestigious occasion grabs eyeballs. And the biggest question of all...? Who will win the Oscars this time? Who deserves it and who is the underdog? This time I thought of intermingling Tarot with the Oscars to see which cards come up for which film. This year there are 9 films nominated for the Best Film category. I will be picking a card each for each film to see the chances they have to win! The films nominated this year are so different from each other. One is a film about sports, while one is about the domestic help in the 50's. One is a philosophical film about life, while one is a fantasy film about Paris. What are the chances these films have? And who will the emerge victorious? The underdog or the favourite? All we can go right now is guess and predict. Watch the Oscars on Feb 26, 2012 to find out!!!

The Artist is a wonderful film and the Queen of Pentacles says that it is a well-loved film full of creativity and passion. People hope that it will win. It has good chances of winning. This movie is the perfect package, it has everything- emotions, story and direction and good acting.

The Descendants
The World

This is the best card of the pack, so I would say that according to the Tarot, this film looks like the winner. The Oscars are looked upon as the best awards function in the world and is watched by the whole world as well. So, this film is likely to rule the world and the awards. Along with the Best film, it is likely to get many other awards as well. It is my pick to win in the Best Film category.

Chances of winning: 10/10

Extremely loud and Incredibly close
Page of Swords

It is unlikely that this film will win many awards. It is a film with a good message and is liked by the younger crowd. Also the director is relatively new and inexperienced. Also, the film is not a favourite to win against other stiff competition. And is not liked by critics.

The Help
Judgement

This film is about a revolution and an awakening which took place in the 50's against the African Help. Like the story of this film, the card which was picked, is the Judgement card, a card of renewal and awakening. This movie has the ability to affect you from within, with its powerful story line. It has good chances of winning awards this year and is likely to win at least one major award.

Hugo
King of Cups

This movie was made with a lot of love and heart. It is a very emotional and touching tale. The movie has heart but maybe thats not all the Academy is looking for. It lacks that winning quality, though it is a great film. It is a must watch film which will transform you. Only a stone-hearted person will be unaffected by this film.

Midnight in Paris
4 of Swords

This movie belongs to a class of its own. It cannot be compared to the other films as it is so different and unique. It is a fantasy tale about romance and freedom of expression. Th makers aren't worried about winning any Oscars as they are happy with the outcome of the film and the way it has turned out. The makers did not make the film to win Oscars, it is more of a personal journey for the director, Woody Allen. He has won many awards in his life and has made this special film for himself.

Chances of winning: 5/10

Moneyball
The High Priestess

This is a good card for this movie. Though it is not likely to win the Best Film award, it will win awards for other categories, and emerge a winner. The film will perhaps receive awards for its story and dialogues.

The Tree of Life
The Lovers

This is the second movie nominated for the Best film starring Brad Pitt in the main role. The movie is about love and philosophy. It is about the choices we make in life,and about family and our loved ones. The movie is wonderful, but perhaps not  Best film-worthy but will be appreciated for the cinematography and the beauty it portrays on the screen.

Chances of winning: 6/10

War Horse
3 of Cups

This is a fun film full of adventure and passion. This is the celebration card. The makers of the film will definitely have something to celebrate about! This looks like a great contender to sweep the awards, and an underdog to win some important awards.

Card of the Day - Feb 16, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Shadowscapes tarot is the 5 of Swords. This card is very different from the traditional RWS 5 of Swords card. The card shows a man flying in the air with a couple of black swans. They represent the element of air. The swans are holding onto swords and so is the man. You need to be prepared and keep your swords ready.  Today may not turn out the way you expected. Be ready to defend yourself. You need to be the dark angel. Like the swans, who are now black instead of traditionally white, you need to embrace your darker side. You need not be a miss goody two shoes today. Give people what they deserve. You may feel that the world is against you today. You need to have a wider view of the world today and change the way you look at the situation.

I'm back from a wonderful Mauritian holiday! It was relaxing and so peaceful! Ahhh.. the birds and the trees and the white sands and the blue-green seas. They will be with me for a very long time... I hope you all had a great week and had a great Valentine's day!

 I will be continuing my daily Card of the day posts from today using my new Shadowscapes Tarot deck. I will be using these cards for the first time and its great to share the images with you. Today's card is the Two of Pentacles. Just like the RWS deck, the card shows a man juggling two pentacles. In this card there are small fairy like creatures assisting him in his juggling. He also has a monkey companion who has a butterfly on his nose. This card says to me, follow your heart. If you want to be busy and juggle your life, do it. You are a bit unconventional and can juggle two lives at once or even two careers. You can easily adapt and shift between the two. You are focused and know what you want. Continue on this path and follow your inner guidance.
