Tarot Card of the Day - King of Wands from The Fairy Tale Tarot

Today's Tarot Card of the Day is the King of Wands from the Fairy Tale Tarot depicted by the fairytale of Aladdin. This beautiful deck has been created by Lisa Hunt, who has also created a wonderful new deck called the 'Ghosts and the Spirits Tarot'. Aladdin is a mysterious story of the Arabian Nights where a poor boy, Aladdin finds a magic lamp in which a genie is trapped. The genie can fulfill all your wishes. This is truly a magical card.No matter who you are, there is always a chance for a 'Wheel of Fortune' moment and for your fortunes to turn. The magic lamp is a symbol of hope and dreams and wishes coming true. The genie is the eternal spirit guiding you in your life. This card shows many orb-like lights, showing the presence of other spirits and guides. Do not lose hope, as you always have spirits guiding you on the right path. Your life is filled with magical beings.

Pentacles : Fruits of Harvest

You are viewing this blog as a part of a chain called the Tarot Blog Hop. You can view the blog before this which is Aisling's blog. Hope you have fun viewing all the unique 35 bloggers that will share their unique perspectives about the Pentacles suit of the Tarot.

I have been attracted to quite a number of decks since I began learning the Tarot in 1999. Some of them have beautiful pictures, some have lovely themes while some others just resonate with me on a spiritual level. So, for this exercise I tried to think up of my favorite Pentacles card. Quite a few came up. I love the Osho Zen Tarot, and it is one of the first decks that I purchased.

In that deck, the Pentacles suit is called Rainbows. There is a beautiful card, the Ace of Rainbows called 'Maturity'. This card is a wonderful reminder that we are constantly changing and maturing, just like a blossoming flower. The figure in the card is at peace, with his eyes closed. He is growing, from within, and only he knows it. Just the way, the trees and flowers grow on their own, and mature, we too mature as we are also a part of Nature. True maturity doesn't happen overnight, it happens slowly and steadily. This card is very meaningful and meditating upon it can help you to realize ways in which you have changed and are bound to change. You have it in you to grow and to keep learning. I find this a very spiritual card and it is very special to me.

On another note, I really love the Fairy Tale Tarot and love the different stories that represent each card. This deck awakens the child within me, and I flashback into my school days where I would read all these fairy tales. These tales are not just childish, but since they are so age old, they have important archetypal symbols which have great meaning. So, the messages received are so profound that you just need to pick up one card for a reading! Today, I asked a question for myself about my growth using this deck and co-inicidently (or synchronically!) I removed a single card belonging to the Pentacles suit which was the ''Three of Pentacles''. This card was represented by the fairy tale of  'The Three Little Pigs.''

The moral of this story is that you need to work hard and by spending more time on a project you can be the best in it and will never fail. Anytime you do something, do your best, and don't put in half-hearted efforts. The earlier pigs made houses of straw and sticks, but they were all blown away by the Big Bad Wolf. The third pig, though he took longer, made a house of cement and bricks and had the last laugh. This is a message for me, as I often feel that people are racing past me, doing things really fast, where as I take my own sweet time and leisurely get things done at my own pace. I need not worry about that as hard work will pay off in the end. There will always be wolves lurking in the background ready to take advantage of you, and bully you, but you must be sure of yourself and get things done on your own brick by brick. The important symbols in this card are:

Bricks : representing the materials of the pig's unmanifested dreams

Path : covered with pebbles. The road to success isn't always easy and obstacle-free

Ladder: use it when the time is right to climb to success

Apples: Temptations and distractions are there to deter you off your task

Wolf: The trickster who will try to play games with your mind.

The Background has debris of the collapsed two houses, so don't forget your past failures while working on your future goals.

Now off to the next blog by Louis Underhill. Let's see what are her favorite Pentacles cards!

Card of the Day- July 27, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy Tale Tarot is the 'Nine of Pentacles' and the card shows us the story of ''The Boy and the Dancing Fairy''. The story is about a kind boy who receives a magic box containing a dancing fairy from an old man. The fairy grants his wishes, first he wishes for a pleasant place to find a companion. He wishes for many things, and gets married to a beautiful princess. When he gets old, he leaves the box in the woods, as the fairy could not grant him youth or free him from death. This magic box signifies possibilities. Magic works when you are kind and compassionate. It is this love that can be passed on to the next generation. Experiences bring you wisdom. This a good time for you as you will soon experience good days ahead, and struggles are over. You can prolong good fortune by being kind and compassionate to those around you.

Card of The Day - July 25, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy tale Tarot is the Princess of Wands represented by the story of Tatterhood. You can read the story HERE.  The Princess of Wands is a very strong, outgoing and wild and free girl unlike a regular princess. Just like Tatterhood, you need to stop being vain and delicate and adapt her qualities of honesty and kindness. Clothes, jewelery and other materialistic things are not all the things that make the world go round. Look for beauty in even the ugliest of things. All that glitters is not gold. What you already have , has much higher value in someone else's eyes. Value the things you already have. Be strong and fiesty today, and don't be afraid of being yourself.

Card of the Day - July 7, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy Tale Tarot is the Princess of Pentacles represented by the fairy-tale of 'The Princess and the Pea'. I have always loved this story. Today, you are free to treat yourself like a princess. Splurge, spend, indulge and treat yourself to whatever you desire. It is necessary to recognize earthly delights as an important component to well-being. Do not deny yourself pleasures like a beauty spa treatment, new clothes, new shoes or a pampering pedicure. Though expensive, they are worth the pleasures they bring you. You need to maintain a spiritual and material balance in life.

Card of the Day - July 5, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy Tale Tarot is the 'Two of Wands' depicted by the fairy tale of 'City Mouse, Country Mouse'. This story shows two points of view, the city life and the country life. The country mouse wears an apron, lives in a humble home and is actually very happy and content. The city mouse is full of pretenses, wears a suit and hat and only pretends to be happy. Which mouse are you? The moral of this story is, the grass is always greener on the other side. Do you envy your rich and gorgeous friend? Do you keep cribbing about your small apartment? You do not know what others are missing in their life unless you look deep within. Everything is not as it seems. Learn to be happy in your present situation. Somebody might be envying your life without you knowing it. Count your blessings.

Card of the Day - June 3, 2012

Today's Card of the Day from the Fairy Tale Tarot is the King of Wands depicted by the fairytale of Aladdin. You have the ability to make your wishes come true. Just call upon the Genie from within. Use your mental intuitiveness like Aladdin and you will be able to overcome all your obstacles. Aladdin, like the King of Wands is fiesty, active, a man of smart words and great ideas. He is also a risk taker and an adventurous boy. Learn the qualities of Aladdin by reading the story.

My Fairy Tale Spread

My life has really been like a fairy tale ever since I got married and it has been five years.. Yes! five years since I got married. The journey has been wonderful and so much has happened with me in these five years. I matured, grew up, started taking my Tarot seriously, became responsible for myself and others at home, made new friends and met so many new people, started this blog and my own website and started Facebooking and have my own Facebook page! Now I can't even imagine my life without Facebook and this blog. I recently purchased a beautiful deck which resonates with my Fairy tale married life, the Fairy Tale tarot by Lisa Hunt. I devised a Fairy Tale anniversary spread and removed a few cards for myself. :-))

The question I asked is what lessons have I learnt in my marriage? And what fairy tales represent the different years of these five years of my life?

I will remove 5 cards for the five years of my marriage and a sixth card to represent what will this year bring for me.

The cards I drew are:

Year 2007
The Wheel
Twelve Dancing Princesses

This suggests that there has been an important change in my life and 'The Wheel' has turned. There are many maidens in this card, which I feel means that I went through a major transformation and changed, transforming into a new person. I have travelled, changed my place of residence and entered a castle where I felt different from home, but I was able to adapt eventually. I felt like a princess in a new castle.

Year 2008
Four of Pentacles
The Tinderbox

This year I was a bit confused as to what to do. I was mostly indoors, studying for my exams and felt a bit stressed out. Finances were not great and kept wondering about them.

Year 2009
Three of Wands
Hok Lee and the Dwarves

I realized I had many tricks up my sleeve like the man in the card and started taking myself seriously. I started publicizing myself and getting more Tarot clients than before. People seemed impressed by what they saw, like the people in the card. I started believing in myself and my magic.

Year 2010
The Lovers
Jorinda and Joringal

This was the year I really connected with my husband and we together started thinking about the future. This was also the year I got a new tattoo for myself. We started functioning well together and agreeing to one another. We really 'understood' each other now.

Year 2011
Eight of Swords
Diamonds and Toads

This was quite an eventful year! This was an unpredictable year as things didn't go as they were planned. There was a lot of delay in my Ph.D admissions and most of the time was spent waiting around. I felt that how much effort I put in, I was not getting the desired rewards. But I spend time with my blog and starting my new website so all was not lost. It also seems that I was very conscious of what people thought about me this year and was unsure of the outcome of my actions.

Year 2012
Prince of Pentacles
Jack the Giant Killer

This year promises to be a good one! There could be the beginning of a new project and n start of a career. There could be coming of money (I'm expecting my research grant to come soon) and new opportunities waiting at the gate. The gate has finally opened and I would be seeing unexpected new things like the bearded maiden and the crazy giant in the card! All in all this promises to be a year of unpredictability! Lets see what this year has in store for me!

Advice for the Year 2012
From the book 'Once upon a time..'
Listening to your dreams can provide you with the motivation needed to open yourself up to new experiences. If you track your inner voice and follow your instincts you can prevail against the inevitable challenges that will test your spirit. Being thoughtful, loyal and hardworking will help to keep you on a focused path that will lead to rewards.

Great advice!! Will definitely follow it this year!

You can consult me for an appointment, for a Fairy tale Tarot reading.

The Top 5 Most Awaited Tarot Decks of 2012

We all love new Tarot decks, don't we? Why do we need to keep buying new decks to add to our collection? For one, we see different versions of the same 78 archetypal cards of the Tarot. The different themes give us a feel of the nature of the artist and different cultures and points of view. This year has begun with a bang with so many artists coming up with their new Tarot decks. They are just awesome!! The art work is fantastic and we can't wait to purchase these decks as soon as they're out! Here is the list of the most awaited Tarot decks of 2012.

1.Alice Tarot
Artist: Karen Mahony and Alex Ukolov, Baba Studio
Release date: Sometime in 2012

I have a great love for Alice in Wonderland. I loved the original Disney movie, love the books and the newest version by Tim Burton. She is a daydreamer and a whimsical girl who is out on her own journey, much like our very own Fool of the Tarot. The cards have my favourite characters: Alice, the poor little oysters, the Cheshire Cat and the hookah smoking caterpillar and many other crazy, eccentric characters. This deck is definitely going to be a must-have and will be a collector's item one day. Baba Studio also have very sweet Alice items on their website baba-store.com like bags, tarot pouches and cushions. Awwww... :-D

3. Gilded Tarot Royale
Artist: Ciro Marchetti
Release date: Early 2012

Ciro Marchetti has got to be the greatest innovators of tarot in recent times. He has revolutionized the tarot world through his digital paintings. My favourite deck is the Legacy of the Divine tarot which I use most of the time for my client readings. Ciro Marchetti has also created the Oracle of Visions deck which is currently being used for my Card of the Day readings this month. His first deck was the Gilded Tarot, which he is revising this year and making some very interesting changes and creating the new and highly awaited Gilded Tarot Royale. I must admit I didn't feel that they needed any changes, but the newer cards are simply out of this world.

5.Tarot Illuminati
Artist: Elric

This deck has the most eyecatching and captivating artwork I have ever seen. The colours of the art are very bright and neon. I always feel that Tarot cards should be more brighter and vibrant. This card has so much energy, and I love its pagan theme. Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful cards forming a beautiful story together. Recently the High Priestess card was on the cover of the Tarosophist International magazine. I am already in love with this deck and hope it comes really soon. The Lovers card is the best I have ever seen in any deck.
